I got my seedbox for 3 days now.
And things is good so far, i got it after 15 min after i payed. ruTorrent working with no problem, no crashing.
Upload and Download speed is great.

BUT, there is one thing, and i want all you guys who makes torrents and upload read this:
The server is VERY slow. NOT talking about the speed, im talking about the server... Creating a torrent, a movie on 4GB takes 5-7 min...
And the worst part, after you upload your torrent you need to download it to get right passkey, and then it must check to see if full torrent is there...
That checking... omg... it takes veeery long... im not kidding, a DVDr movie on 4GB takes around 10-13 min!..

So this box may be very good for you who download and seed stuff... But if you are a uploader and creating torrents and that stuff, you should find another company!

anybody else use these guys recently?

i'm really looking into their new BBQ box and Lunch boxes but i'm curious about what the actual consistent UP speeds are that people are getting.

BBQ box is on a 1gbit uplink but each user is capped at 300mb
Lunch box is 200mb guaranteed with bursts since its on a 1gb line.

would love to hear from more reviews and insight.

You should come pop on irc ;) I'm on irc throughout my work day (so for the next couple hours) so feel free to jump on for a chat if you want live feedback.

I havent used a BBQ but I have heard very good things about its speed, I'll have a word with one of the regulars when he's online but he has screenshots of him sitting at more or less maxed upspeed.

I think you will get consistent speeds on BBQ just need to make sure you are not going to go over the cap but if you arent then it is a good choice.

Disclaimer: I am not staff, just a very happy customer for over 2 years now.

yeah i saw those two. I almost jumped at it but i emailed them first about it.
as for the bit boxes, i emailed and asked directly since they don't list the speeds in the description. So here's a quote from one of the guys.

"Bit boxes are connected to the same link as Lunch boxes, so each server is connected to the Gbit pipe but because the hardware is not capable of producing those speeds we advertise it as 200Mbit capable"
Not sure what "capable" really means in terms of consistent speeds but for the price it's at right now (50% off) it easily beats out a handful of other 100mbit plans with other providers...

i'm probably going to sign up for the lunch box though. for whatever reason, (most likely to do with the routing of data from the server to my pc) my ftp speeds absolutely REFUSE to go any higher than 1.18MB/s with the bbq boxes. Just proving that my ISP seriously has issues with leaseweb servers (my previous long time box was with leaseweb and was riddled with problems with transferring to my pc)

I can easily max out on the LU servers.

    Provider- Bytesize hosting
    Speed: 05/10
    Support: 07/10
    GUI: ruTorrent.
Speed of GUI: 07/10 (good overall but hangs/stops activity of client everytime i delete "with data" a torrent)
    Package: lunch box
    Price: 13.5 Euro
    Overall rating: 6/10

G4m3N3rd's review (first post on this page) wasn't kidding. I signed up with them about 2 weeks ago and boy do i regret it. Creating and Checking torrents (when uploading new ones) is frustratingly slow. But more on that in a bit.

First and foremost, even though they "offer" multiple clients to use (rtorrent, deluge, transmission) they really only support deluge. It's their recommended client and for a good reason too. Even in their wiki they talk about how "buggy" rtorrent is. Although i guess that may be true "i really haven't had problems with it with other companies.

For those looking to use Ru/rtorrent with their box, look elsewhere. Rtorrent comes with only the most most basic plugins (if at all) and they do not allow you to install anymore plugins. This, i THINK, CAN be done in if you buy one of their VPS seedboxes since they come completely unmanaged. here's a quote from their support on the topic of requesting to add more rtorrent plugins.

I am sorry but the decision cannot be reversed because what is tiny and simple for you it is not tiny nor simple when doing on larger scale like we do. Each plugin that is added adds more strain on already buggy piece of software like rutorrent. Current plugins are found to be optimal for most usages.
Not everything that is “standard” like you say or what’s used the most means it is good( IE for example) and that is why we recommend Deluge as our standard. ;)

    Regards
Just to give you an idea of the missing plugins,

    Autodl - No
Rar extaction plugin - No...there is an auto extract plugin on deluge though -_-... or else you have to do it via CLI
Media - no plugin, have to go through the terribly slow VNC
File explorer - Can only have navigation similar to file explorer through the VNC

Now about the VNC, at first i thought it would be a great feature. But man is it slow to navigate. it comes with some stuff installed but i try to stay away from it as much as possible. Extraction can be done through here but it is SLOW.

Because of the sluggishness of VNC, you're also forced to do most of the basic torrenting/file management via CLI. I'll admit, its easy to get the hang of and they offer wiki like tutorials but it really takes the ease of having a managed seedbox completely out. Not to mention, extraction, torrent creation, and torrent checking is extremely slow.

for instance, i upped a torrent about 10gb on ptp and it took almost 30min to completely check. this while having no more than 12 torrents on deluge but no more than 5 active (collective 3mb UP at most)

They also have a no refunds after 24 hours policy. I think this should be upped by at least a day or two. 1 day is NOT enough time to test this thing out full and come down to a solid evaluation. It only took me 3 days to realize that this box was a giant let down; but i was already too late.

Their support staff isn't bad though. They seem like a couple of good guys but i will say this, if they can't replicate the problems on their end. then there's not much they will do. which i understand but they didn't seem to try to think of alternate theories as to why my ssh tunnel would constantly hang and freeze or get disconnected, with no rhyme or reason, as i browsed different websites or checked my email.

In short, my particular lunch box, for the past two weeks has been running more like a 100mb guaranteed with 200mb bursts (they "guarantee" 200mb with higher bursts) with HARDLY any RAM.

Only at random times, and no more than 5 times (about 3 of those in the first couple of days of having the box) have i seen anything higher than 200mb UP. On the torrent i just upped to PTP, 10gb torrent, around 10 leechers (most with seedboxes) right now is running at less than 2MB UP. It bursted to 9MB in the beginning, settled at 3-6MB now is just hanging around 1.3MB-3MB UP.
The Fluctation in UP speeds on either client is crazy. the "settling" isn't really a settle per se, but rather it'll peak and then bomb out to under 1MB. and then go back up to the "settling" area until it bursts again.
    Wash, Rinse, Repeat...

I'm thinking their bbq box might be better all around or some of their other boxes but the lunch box, at least for me, was a giant disappointment especially after hearing plenty of good first hand reviews. Perhaps i got a bad box but that's no excuse in the end.

Their FTP speeds are solid though. Although due to routing through datacenters on the leaseweb servers (i only can hit 1.15MB Down on a max 1.5 MB DOWN *12mb connection* on their leaseweb servers) i'm stuck getting a box on the LU servers. and even then, there's still steady, but quickly goes back up, fluctuation on the ftp speeds. via both s/ftp/es.

I sent them a ticket explaining all of this as well and hope to hear from them soon. But with it being 2 weeks in and they probably won't be able to "replicate" any of my problems, i won't be expecting them to be able to resolve any of this.

damn, this is a long review. As you can see, i like to be thorough and as objective as i can. hope it helps anyone who's been looking. I'm not gunna flame them for this though. It's my first bad box experience (not counting ftp speed issues elsewhere) after a handful of previous boxes so i guess it was about time.
I would just suggest to ask to see if they do trials of any kind and go that route. I don't know if they do but it's worth asking.

I like the VNC access even if it was crashing every 24h (from my PC) using tightVNC
The torrent speed was good (Not great)

Please note that this seedbox block all torrent site that are not private. If the tracker have a open invitation you can not use this seedbox.
I guess it is a security reason.

It was my first seedbox but I decided to try an other one.

This was my first seedbox and I really didn't know what to expect. I don't know if I had bad luck or what, but on both of my boxes I had hard drives go out (one box multiple times) and with the 6 months I was with them, I had a little over 3 weeks of downtime altogether. Now this was a provider issues (server.lu) but hearing "don't know when it will be fixed" and not being reimbursed for any of the downtime didn't sit well with me.

The service, features and price together are pretty tough to beat. I would definitely recommend if you're first getting started, want some extra features many seedbox companies don't offer (without having a dedicated server) and want it all on a budget. If they could improve the quality of their servers a bit and cut off the few condescending and not-so-helpful staff members, I think Bytesized would be a solid choice for a provider. Like I said before, I may have just had bad luck so YMMV!

Probably one of the few hosts that actually has an android program so you can see the details on your box. This is my second seedbox with this company, before I had a lunch box. So I can't really say in comparison to other companies, but I can say that I am not seeing the slow speeds that you are talking about. This is probably because the price I'm paying so there isn't very many users.

However, I am seeing speeds of around 55 MB/s for download and about 10 MB/s upload. Obviously the upload varies due to the bandwidth of other users . All in all I am pretty happy, but there are always a couple sites I wish I could use with this seedbox, but can't because they are pubs. BTW, Sinderella doesn't seem to work. Says IPFILTER restriction in the tracker information, but I don't see it on the ban list. So I'm not sure if its something from the tracker or if its bytesized.

My Upload peaked at around 4 MB/s
My Download peaked at around 40MB/s

I found the VNC connection slow but then again I was on one of the cheapest packages...
Definitely would recommend to first timers and probably intermediates.
