Pulsed Media 2009 Starter Seedbox Review


So a few days ago I purchased the entry level (2009 Starter) seedbox that the company Pulsed Media offers. The seedbox has the following features:

Traffic is truly unmetered & unlimited on small, medium and large plans.
Nice Master GUI with ruTorrent for Torrents, File manager, Quota info, web proxy, help, IRC etc.
rTorrent + ruTorrent. Other torrent clients are unavailable.
SSH + SFTP + SCP + FTP access.
Integrates to your OS with pulsedBox – adding & managing torrents is very convenient and easy!


For 6.95€ (Roughly $8 AUD) this seedbox comes with some great features, such as a large hard drive, unlimited torrents and and rTorrent interface. Although the download/upload speed, being only a 20mbit connection is limited to 2.5mb/s, which I easily max out. If you are looking for the 100mbit speed I suggest you shell out the extra $2 or so, it's worth it.
So it took just over a day for my seedbox to be activated, and straight away I hammered it, as you do with every new seedbox :) On the first torrent I uploaded, I was getting full 2.5mb/s speed on a fairly popular torrent. I was pretty happy with that. So far I have almost used up my 75gb hard drive, just on movies, music and TV shows.
So the biggest issue with Australian users and seedboxes would have to be the speed at which you HTTP download or FTP the downloaded files from their server to your computer. Here's a speedtest of my connection.

I can say that downloading my files to my computer via HTTP MAXED OUT my connection. I was getting a constant 420-430kb/s download without any download accelerator or anything like that. I'm very happy with that, because any of you who keep up with the seedbox discussion here would know that I had a bit of a whinge about the download speeds from other seedboxes. (I'm located in Perth, WA).
All in all this is by FAR the best seedbox I've ever used, and plan to upgrade at the end of the one month contract. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a seedbox, and at just $8 per month I'd definitely suggest that you get at least a month, to see if you like it as much as I do. You really can't go wrong.
