Thread: Seedbox FTP - LIST problem

I recently scrapped shared seedboxes and bought myself a dedi, its all setup and working perfectly except for FTP.

Sometimes, (not always), when the ftp client sends the LIST command to view a directory it hangs and the connection times out.

For example:

Command: LIST
Response: 150 Here comes the directory listing.
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing



Just hoping someone has encountered this error before and could help me.

Any suggestions?

What FTP client are you using (server and on ur PC)

I would recommend using VSFTPD for the server and filezilla for your home pc. I use them on all my servers and never have an issue.

As for it timing out. Could be ur losing the connection, either just to the server or to the whole internet, even if its just dropping out for a second it could produce that kind of error I think

Thanks for your reply, im using exactly what you said VSFTPD and filezilla.

I decided to remove VSFTPD and reinstall and for some reason it is now working!

Not sure why as i reinstalled it exactly the way i did when i first installed it but nevertheless its working now.
