Thread: Seedboxes and Australian users

I'm currently with Feral but the speeds i'm getting locally from the NL server are nothing brilliant. I can only download one file at any given time and my speed peaks at around 1meg down (this is http with a download manager). FTP and browser based http give me around 200k/400k. This has been over multiple connections.

What general speeds are Australian users experiencing and what providers are they using. Anyone else on feral getting higher speeds?

I think he meant downloading from his seedbox to his home PC. Not Australian and not with Feral obvously so i cant help there but if you dont have filezilla setup for multidownloading try this:

Step 4 - Maximimizing your downloads
Filezilla does not currently support multi-threading but it does support downloading multiple files at once. This can greatly increase and maximize your download connection often maxing it to its fullest potential. To enable multiple connections requires some simple setup.

From your main filezilla screen go to Edit > Settings.... This will pop up your settings menu. From here click on the Transfers tab. Once in the transfers tab, under concurrent downloads, set your number of concurrent downloads to 10. Also set the limits to 0 to disable them. Click ok and Restart Filezilla.

hi rfkt, im from south aust and i have a seedbox in germany with xirvik, when i got it the staff from xirvik did tell me that the location of the seedbox is important in relation to our location.
my speedtest


i am using cuteftp 8.3 professional and my speed peeks around 1.6-1.7mbs when transfering to my pc.
so im thinking its your server not your conection?
it might also be possible that your internet provider is throttling your speed?

It's server location based. I've tried connections to it from various providers (internode being the slowest provider i've tried) and their all pretty much the same speed so I'm guessing it's just where the server is.

Anyone else get higher speeds on different boxes? Where are your servers based?

Ive had seedboxes in germany, usa, france and netherlands all of which have pretty much identical speeds when pulling stuff of from the box and also depends on the timing of the day aswell later at night i can get up to 3.5 mb/s early in the day i may only get 700 kb/s

I've had around 2mb/s early morning but thats been very rare. I guess that's the price we pay right now though until it becomes cheap enough for local hosts. I've seen a few companies pop up recently around us but their servers are still back somewhere in EU.

It also depends on how many user are on the same server and how mutch bandwidth is being used over all.

If u have a shared box with say 7-8 users and its on a 100mbit connection u cant expext mutch more in avg speed i would say.

What Seedbox plan do u have with feral and how many users are on your server ?
