Default How to Upload Files to Seedbox?

    Hello everyone,

I just purchased a starter seedbox through pulsed media and, though it has not been setup yet, I was curious how I would be able to upload files to it. Basically, I have a bunch of files I am seeding on my own computer, but want to start converting them to my seedbox. I don't want to just download the torrent file again from the swarm directly to my seedbox because some of the files I am the sole seeder and do not want to get in trouble for ratio manipulation. So I just want to add the the torrent file and then upload the actual media directly. I have heard I can use rsync or ftp to do this. But I am new to the seedbox scene and it would be great if someone could point me to a guide or give me specific instructions. The webui is rtorrent.

    thanks everyone!

for linux I use gFTP. Just remember your upload speed is only as fast as your connection.

With those speeds it could take a while to get to your box. Depending on the file size and how healthy the swarm is you should probably just redownload it from your box. That's entirely up to you though.

In windows, use CuteFTP Pro, log into the server, you'll see your computer files on the left hand side and the sever files on the right hand side. Drag the files you want to upload onto the server by dragging from the LHS and dropping to the RHS. After that, assuming you are using rTorrent with ruTorrent GUI click "Create torrent", navigate to the folder on the server you wish to upload, copy and paste your unique announce URL into the "Trackers" box under the "Tracker Properties" tab. Tick start seeding and private torrent and then click "Create".

After that you need to save the ".torrent" file onto your computer and then upload it onto the respective tracker.

If you copy stuff over like this it can take days (figure 5 Gigs per hour) and saturating your UL link might actually slow web browsing and other stuff. You should be picky about what you upload.

Thats what i use. And from what i can tell it has the same basic setup and features as CuteFTP

Upload speed to my seedbox is dreadfully slow, but that depends on how fast your internet is. It could take a long time depending on the size of the files you want to upload. As others have said, you should be selective of which files you upload. and Consider just re-downloading some of the files to your seedbox.

Thank you, you have all been very helpful. I don't want to just re download to my seedbox because, like I said, I am the sole seeder for some of the files. I would be uploading and downloading with the same announce key at the same time with separate IP addresses. Thats just sketchy. Now I signed up with Pulsed Media, will they give me the necessary information (server, username, password) so I can use an FTP client to upload. Is it pretty straightforward?

    Thank you

They give you FTP access and SHH access. It will be pretty easy, they should email you the account info you need to enter into your FTP client (Filezilla or whatever you use).

    Sweet, sounds good!

And I am sure the pulsed media guys would help me out. I just want to be ready when my seedbox is ready!

PulsedMedia has a web IRC right next to your ruTorrent tab.

i actually prefer using torrent to do things like this. just create a torrent of all the stuff you want, with udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce as the announce url, seed it and parse the torrent file to seedbox.
i've tried uploading via ftp for a long time so i realized that stop and resuming transfers too many times can make your files broken. everytime i hash checking my files on seedbox they always missed like 0.5 or 1 percent
