I had the same experience with them. I was on 1 Gbps Impact box and in three days with them i encountered all problems you can imagine:(

My speed was slow (max 3 MB for 1 GB box). My rtorrent was crashing down every 3 minutes. I installed deluge after that but it was losting connection to server every 10 seconds!! FTP speed was terrible. i got max 300 Kbps!! server went down two time in three days and after running again, hashing my file took 14 hours!!

I also submitted ticket, went to IRC and etc. tickets were answered afte one day with just one line helping me not at all!. After struggeling for several days I asked for my refund.

All in all, it wasthe worst Sb i have ever tried and i warn everybody to avoid trying it:)

Yeah, I'm looking into Xirvik at the moment. This time i'm going to research it more thoroughly.
Another thing i noticed was that upload speeds weren't that great, even on new torrents with lots of leechers as well.

Ya, u r right. I was on unmetered box but i am sure speeds were capped. I got not higher than 2 MB upload speed regardless of the torrent:(

Another option u can look into is SeedMonster. i was with them and after expiering my monthly contract i tried two other services but i am back again there and happy to do so.

Setup was quick and easy. I installed ruTorrent but the webui kept logging error messages and torrents with heaps of seeds were sitting there inactive for some reason.

So i installed Deluge and it was all good. Then deluge kept loosing connecting and then for 5-6 hours the whole thing was down. So i went through the faqs and trouble shooting but still no solution. Went IRC but no one was there that could help.

    So i opened a ticket.

Below is a screen shot of the response from Feral Host.

Below is a screen shot of the error log from ruTorrent

Now correct me if i'm wrong but they weren't very helpful. They didn't post a tweet on the service status page to say the Deluge was getting an update and may be down however long. I don't think they really looked into the problem with ruTorrent at all.
I am still getting error logs and have to force recheck torrents regularly to get them to seed properly.

Anyone having problems as well? Seriously thinking of going with another seedbox supplier after the month is over.

    Cheers

As for your rTorrent problem, you can EASILY log into SSH via putty and issue the command: screen -list.

If something like 25025.rTorrent (12/22/2010 04:50:40 AM) (Detached) shows up, that means its running.
If you were having any problems with ruTorrent, just issue the command screen -killall.
rTorrent would restart within 10 minutes.

However, those errors messages are quite common. I get a few every hour, and its seeding just fine and has never crashed. All it means is that your ruTorrent front end had a problem syncing with the rTorrent backend. If it doesn't appear every 5 seconds (or however long you set your update interval to) that means its working just fine.

Deluge was not updated on any feral servers that I am aware of. Most likely you misunderstood joshua. I am guessing your deluge was not configured correctly and he updated it.

If you want my two cents, set up deluge as a thin client.

the WEB-UI takes up a ridiculous amount of CPU power.

First: Your speeds are dependent on the torrent you pick and what other clients are using to downloading from you. Unless you are a scene releaser who is doing the initial seeding of a very popular file you are NEVER going to max a 1GBIT box.

As for for your other issues, it sounds like an isolated case. Feral has hundreds if not thousands of users who have great experiences with their seed-boxes. I have one, and I love the thing.

As for your FTP speeds, what kind of configuration were you using? What program? Did you have it tuned for partial files? Did you try using an HTTP downloader?

Tickets also tend to take 24 hours at least to respond to. Within 5 minutes of logging onto IRC I ALWAYS find someone to help me out with any problem.

Anyways, I believe both of you have had an usual experience with feral. I've had a box with them for a couple months now, and its been nothing but great. I've uploaded over 3000gb/per month to various trackers..

I tested everything you can imagine:D rebooting, reinstalling, using different torrent clients but i just didn't work:(

i heard nothing about system upgrading but in IRC, users on Neon sloe were compeletely satisfied and had no problem. Thats why i am suspecting despite the fact that my box was unlimited but they capped it to reduce the upload amounts:(

@freu0047: I had Neon alot before my 1 Gbps and it was really great. All the issue i faced was after i changed my box to 1 Gbps and all my points are toward that plan (Impact plan):)

as for torrents, you are right. But as I mentioned, my speeds were always below 3 MB/s regardless of the peers and seeder/leecher. I tried it with several hot torrent and all were the same.

I haven't tried http downloading but it was the server problem for sure becuase when i was on Neon plan i could catch the max FTP speed using FTPCute with partial transferring enabled:)

Feral sucks!! I left Feral and got a VPS. I had to learn linux just for it .. but in the end, its worth all the way. Still its a 100Mb shared VPS but I am uploading at full 100Mbps to waffles now!! Besides, I am the master of my own things now. Even running a website on it :D
    Way better than any Feral.
