Thread: Bad upload speed on seedbox

Right, I ordered a seedbox from SeedUnlimited.com a few days ago and I'm not impressed AT ALL with the upload speeds. It's a 100mbps seedbox and I have seen a max upload speed of 300KB/s, which was the second time in two days that it went over 100KB/s.



Download speeds are good, I usually get between 5MB/s and 10MB/s, sometimes up to 11MB/s. I'm quite happy with those, but this is a seedbox and it's supposed to have 100mbps both ways, not just down.

I have around 50 torrents in there which are seeding and not giving me any errors. A lot of them have peers listed (in the brackets) but I am not connected to any. For instance, under the peers column: "0 (5)"

I have a few questions:

• Why am I not able to seed to people even when there are people there trying to download the file?
• If I am downloading something at maximum speed (11MB/s or so) does that then mean that I can't upload at the same time? i.e. is the 100mbps bandwidth combined or for both, can I upload and download at 11MB/s at the same time?

hmmm as regarding upload have you full duplex or half duplex,,for the first part of your question it will all depend on the speed of the other peers (isp) might be crap,if they are connectable ,to get full value you need to get onto a torrent before anybody else

I'm quite new to this, not sure what full duplex and half duplex are to be honest.

And yes I will try and get on torrents quickly instead of downloading other ones, but it seems like even when people try downloading from me their speeds are always very slow and I would expect that at least some people would have faster download speeds.

You will get best results from your seedbox when other people with seedboxes download from you. In order to accomplish this, you have to jump on new torrents (and have the "sixth sense" that which torrent will become popular).
For eg. on HD-T, I find that scene rips are downloaded a lot, as well as porn. So as soon as you see a decent scene encode or a porn torrent, jump on it regardless of anything.
Then as other seedboxers join the swarm, you'll get >1MB/s easily.

The tricky part is with music trackers though, I have ruined my buffer at what.cd trying to seed with my box.

To answer your first questions:
1. Probably downloaders with low speed, or a heavily seeded torrent. That is why your upload isn't hitting the max.
In order to check for errors, have the staff or a friend check your box's condition by adding a new pack from SCC/FTN/FcT and see how much speed it hits.

2. Usually you can hit full upload and download speeds, depends on the hardware as well. But if advertised as 100/100mbps, it means that ideally you can max out on both UL and DL simultaneously.

I just jumped on a torrent with 125 snatches in 9 hours at bitGAMER and it uploaded at 1MB/s, albeit only for about a minute. I think maybe the problem was simply that I wasn't downloading the right torrents.

I read this thread at What.CD which helped me get a good idea, my buffer (which was very small anyway) got a bit ruined from me trying to download stuff without any idea if it was good or not to download.
