Hi. I am new to this site. I have a dedicated seedbox through xirvik. Ithey just gave me a new one, as my isp was throttling my old one. I was reading in this forum here: http://www.torrent-invites.com/resol...lenecking.html

About a way to stop my isp throttling is to ftp multi thread. I use ftp rush, but I am not sure how to mutli thread. any one that can help me out?

    thanks

Multi threading shouldn't matter when it comes to getting around your ISP throttling you.

In your FTP client, make sure you use Secure FTP (FTPS, SFTP, or FTPES will do). I'm pretty sure with xirvik they use sftp, so try changing it from FTP to SFTP in your Site Manager/Server Options. This encrypts all FTP traffic, and more often than not will get around any ISP throttling.

Back to multi threading. If most of the files you download on torrents are scene releases, don't even bother with multi part downloading because they are already parted into multiple .rar files. Instead, open multiple connections in your FTP client options. If you can max out your downstream on a single connection, only open two connections. Otherwise, open as many connections as it takes to max out your downstream. For example, lets say your max download speed is 1mB/s (i.e. 1000kB/s). If you can only download at 200kB/s max from your seedbox to your home pc on a single connection, you should open 5 connections in order to max out your home ISP's downstream.

some places (ovh) also have slow speeds to some countries, so that may be an issue.

Ok, yeah, I have 16mB/s download speed, so how many connections do I need to run? I am not sure if I am doing the sftp correctly...here is a pic of what I see in the site manager:

Which one should I select...or am I in the wrong place?

    AUTH TLS.

    16mB/s or 16mbps? The capital "B" = bytes. Lower case "b" = bits. 8 bits = 1 byte.

In any case, unless you actually tested your max speed (don't go by what your ISP claims), you will need to find exactly what your max d/l speed is (try downloading a well-seeded torrent with a lot of seeders, or a large test file on a server you know can max out your connection). If your max d/l speed is 16mbps, that is equal to 2000kB/s which is 1.95mB/s. So, find out how fast you can download from your seedbox to your pc on a single thread. Divide that by 2000kB/s or w/e you determine to be your max and that is the amount of connections you'll need to open.

If you are talking about an ISP quota there is nothing you can do to stop shaping after you go over your monthly quota, except upgrading your plan... Your ISP traffic still adds up just the same, using SFTP just means they can't see what you are transfering and thus filter out the torrent traffic and slow it down as some ISPs do. 10MBs downloaded on FTP is the same as on SFTP.

If you want to do SFTP with the options in your screenshot you would select "SSH FTP" as SFTP is only FTP over the SSH protocol
