Default Good ftp client for Mac

Just started using a great FTP client for OSX

CaptainFTP - has all the standard features you'd expect

but also has a segmented download option, to increase the speeds of your ftp transfers.

See guide for how to use it here:

Increase FTP Speeds With Segmented Downloading | THE source for BitTorrent & P2P Tips, Tricks and Info. | FileShareFreak

I've been getting up to 700 KB/sec on ftp transfer, where I would normally receive only around 500 KB

How is it compared to CuteFTP on the Mac? I thought CuteFTP sucked on the Mac. Is it especially better in the SFTP department?

Generally Transmit & Yummy FTP are the most popular clients for OSX, both are amazing Apps. Transmit it what I use and hasn't let me down and I can't see myself changing that anytime soon.

Not sure mate, I haven't used CuteFTP on mac. I have used filezilla and yummy ftp, and find captains interface much cleaner and simpler.

In terms of SFTP it handles it alright. Obviously speeds are reduced when one uses this type of security.

Transmit is a good simple ftp program .. don't believe it does more advanced transfer functions such as segmented downloading though

Indeed it doesn't, but other than that it's an excellent App. I guess the folks over at Panic see this a niche feature. Kudos to Capatin FTP for filling this void.

Agreed , its got a killer interface .. very easy to use - wish it did segmented trasnfers - then I'd be like you and use it hands down

FileZilla is the best client I've used on Mac, even better than the pay programs like Transmit.

Filezilla is alright .. a bit to 'PC' like in its interface for me, more importantly it doesn't support segmented downloading
