Recently I started using a seedbox with an rutorrent frontend and was getting sick of having a tab always open in my browser.
I found this nifty program called fluid
Fluid - Free Site Specific Browser for Mac OS X Leopard
It's a free download and basically turns any website into an executable program, stored in your Applications folder.
The beauty of this is that you can then incorporate rutorrent in OSX as if it were a standalone program.
If you're like me you love using your spaces in OSX, so I made my 'rutorrent app' always open in a specific space so I can keep my work area clean. You can even add custom icons to keep your OS looking slick.
I've attached a screen shot below
Enjoy
