Default Help transfering torrents from PC to Seedbox

    Hello people.

I just got my hands on a seedbox and am enjoying it very much. But I would like to transfer my downloaded torrents from my PC to my seedbox, so I can use it to seed them. I already moved the data through FTP but when I try to add the torrent it just creates a folder inside the torrent folder and starts leeching instead of seeding. I'm using ruTorrent. Maybe I should use other client?

I would really aprecciate (+rep) if someone could help me out. :)

You uploaded the data to the same location that rtorrent puts its data? The reason I ask is that you said it 'Creates and folder and starts leeching' If the folder you uploaded was named exactly the same, even if the data in it didn't match it wouldn't need to create this directory. Is this directory its creating INSIDE the directory your uploading or at the same level as the folder you uploaded?

I couldn't understand much of what you said... but answering your first question, yes I put it into the "data" folder, and of course I used the same name for the torrent folder. But ruTorrent didn't ask me if I wanted to overwrite the files or something. It just created another folder with the same name inside and started to leech again.

    Example:
    /media/c0d8/home/XXXX/private/rtorrent/data/torrent A

So I put Torrent A folder inside the data folder. But rutorrent created another similar folder inside:

    /media/c0d8/home/XXXX/private/rtorrent/data/torrent A/torrent A

    WTF...

Yeah, thats weird. Do you have the ability to copy the data on the server? SSH access, or an FTP server that supports copy? If so copy the data from the first Torrent A dir and stick it in the Torrent A subdir then reshash the torrent. Not ideal, but it would get you up and seeding the quickest while you figure out why it would create that subdir.

    I agree that shouldn't happen.

Great idea. I'll try it out but first I will try using another client.

Which FTP client are you using? Use CuteFTP its the best out of the 3-4 i've tried and I think it supports direct copying while the FTP client is open.

mate, u have to put them in the same folder as ur defualt torrent in webUI says.

change the path of both new torrent and completed torrent into the completed torrents forlder. (change the location path through the setting option in the torrent client u use in your seedbox)

Then u have to use a frp client to move them to the folder u put above ( i do it by cpmpleted file on the torrent foldet on my seedbox) then dl the torrent file again and add it to ur client. If you do everything right, it should start hashing and the seeding.

    good luck!

You should just force a check and it would be fine. Add the .torrent in the client and uncheck the "start" (the option name should be something like that, don't remember the exact name) option. When the .torrent is added, force a check.

If your Torrent A folder is in the path data/Torrent A folder, then just do the recheck. If your folder is in a path like data/Torrent A folder/Torrent A folder, change the download path to where your folder lies and then do a recheck.
