    Default Reset on feralhosting.com?

    I am having some issues and would like to reset the rutorrent. Can I do that? Also considering going to xirvik. Is there a way to transfer some files from feral to xirvik without having to download them and then upload them? Can I just transfer them from feral to xirvik?

    So many questions but I didn't feel like making a bunch of topics for each one so if you have some info on any let me know please. Thank you.

    kill the rtorrent process:
    $ ps ux | grep rtorrent

    Look for a line similar to this:
    RunDRun 17115 0.9 1.9 358140 78392 pts/2 Ss+ Oct05 201:48 rtorrent

    Take note of the pid number at the second column (eg. 17115). Kill that PID number:
    $ kill -9 17115

    Wait a few minutes, rtorrent should restart. That's all you need to do. Feral has a script that runs rtorrent if it's not running.

    Also considering going to xirvik. Is there a way to transfer some files from feral to xirvik without having to download them and then upload them? Can I just transfer them from feral to xirvik?
    Yes, you can do so by using rsync. Let me know if you need help with this.

    Yep. I would like some help on using rsync as I had never previously heard of it before. Is this available for Windows? I really only have Windows 7 and Mac OS X available to me. Well, I do have Linux on my laptop, but I would rather avoid that if possible atm.

    You need to ssh to your feral box by using a terminal program such as PuTTY o rsince you already have linux, you can ssh from there as well. Once logged in, you will run rsync to transfer files from your Feral box to Xirvik. However, I am not sure if Xirvix installs, by default, rsync program on their boxes.

    Here's an example rsync command-line when transferring whole directory tree:
    $ rsync --archive --sparse --blocking-io --verbose --recursive --human-readable --progress --stats ~/private/rtorrent/data/DIRECTORY_TO_TRANSFER xirvik_username@server.xirvik.com:/home/YOUR_XIRVIK_LINUX_USERNAME

    If you have gigabytes of files to transfer, you might wanna screen rsync:
    $ screen -fa -m -S rsync.transfer

    Then from within screen:
    $ rsync --archive --sparse --blocking-io --verbose --recursive --human-readable --progress --stats /home/$USER/private/rtorrent/data/DIRECTORY_TO_TRANSFER xirvik_username@server.xirvik.com:/home/YOUR_XIRVIK_LINUX_USERNAME

    Big thanks for all the help, scoobie. I got them all transferred but had to learn a thing or two in the process.

    In all honesty Feral offers very good speeds from my experience with them. I don't take back that 9 I gave them out of 10 but Xirvik covered my needs a little better. Both of these are very solid from my use with them.
