    Default Seeding Issue with Seedbox/rutorrent

    Hi,

I am currently using a seedbox with rutorrent. The download was fast and efficient. However, while it says the finished file is seeding, there are no changes in my upload rate or share ratio? Is it just much slower after downloading, or is there something i need to adjust to increase my ratio/upload speed?

    Thanks!

it all depends on the amount of leeches on the torrent,if no one is leeching then you cant upload.or if there is to many seeds with way faster connections then it will be hard to seed as well.

Tracker is Bit-HDTV. So (as a novice) there needs to be a lot of other people downloading the torrent in order to increase my upload/share ratio? If there are hardly any, my ratio will be small, is that right?

Also to add to this; What is the best way to get a good ratio?

Well, this will probably take a long time to explain. Better still if you understand how the torrent system works. But yeah, you gotta go for what others are downloading.
For example, sunday night is a good day to get fresh stuff, like TV series, and be one of the first to download and seed them. You can send the same episode 10 times back to the net before tuesday.
Another good thing IMHO is to get whole seasons of famous tv series (again) and keep them for a lil while, like 2 months. It eats some disk space but it's worth.

Also, learn to take a look at peers, seeders and leechers at the torrent page.
Sometimes you have 400 people trying to get 1% of the file, cause whoever had 100% of it is not online anymore, so there's a bunch of people stuck at the same place with 99% of the file. You'll be one of them and you won't profit off of it.

Find information about the torrent file system in wikipedia. And take a look at a few threads here. The tracker review section has good comments and experience from people having failures and success serving in some trackers.

Hope I could be of any help.

yes you are right adolphus, and the best way to build a ratio is to be one of the first to download the torrent, sometimes it just takes time just let your torrents seed as long as you can and you will find some one will eventually download them,i have had torrents set there for weeks and then all the sudden just go crazy so just sit tight let them seed and try to grab the newest stuff.

If you are using a shared seedbox, there is a bug that prevents the statistics from being updated properly. The reason is basically an unfortunate situation where your shared server includes another user sharing the same torrent on the same tracker. Because you have a single IP, your statistics can get swapped or you can never get any credit for sharing your downloaded torrent. It's a very nasty and unpleasant issue and unfixable. Unfortunately, dedicated servers are the only way to go to handle the situation..
