Thread: KnowinServers? Anyone heard of them?

Prices seem really cheap for a Gigabit server... I suppose I would have to setup a seedbox myself, which is fine. But I just want to see what others have to say first.



So, anyone ever hear of them before? Reliable?

EDIT: Found a few posts in other forums complaining about outrageous downtime. Others say the service is great, then say the servers went down a few days later.

Guess I'll be avoiding them. Too bad, great price for a Gigabit connection.

Well, The downtime was only with the windows VPS and not with the linux one.

The linux VPS Just work Great. Windows vps have some problems with the xen Setup.
But then , you have to install your own setups the vps, as seedboxes is not the prime use of the vps,
Webhosting is.

Knowin Servers is a very good company and a great re-seller. Mac, who has posted above, is a very reliable/trustworthy individual and has great staff working for him. Not only is his support great, but like i mentioned, his staff, especailly there lead tech are some very knowledgeable people and u wont come across a better different group of guys.

The issue with all these user complaining is this : Since Knowin Servers are dedicated/VPS, the end-user will have to setup the server themself. This is the issue because a lot of the users complaining just jump right in without knowing a thing about how to setup a server and then complain when it goes down, if the speed is slow or if they cant get a hold of support. That is wrong imo, and a user should not buy a server thinking its just like a Seedbox and then complain when they dont set it up correctly.

Anyway, its your choice whether to go with this company or not, but like i said it can be completely trusted.

I actually switched to them a little over a month ago because I wanted a vps rather than a seedbox. I dont think I've had any downtime in the time I've been with them. The only thing I've noticed is the upload speed seems a little slow. It could just be the torrents I've downloaded but I've gotten faster uploads with other providers. The download is great though, I've seen up to 10mb/s

Out of curiosity: Why would one pick a VPS over a seedbox?

@theunsureguy: The main reason would be that they get root access and this allows the user to fully control the server.

Well that explains it then (windows). I wish I had read this yesterday, I just bought a seedbox from customseedbox.com, which I remember had good reviews awhile back. I may switch over to Knownin next month depending on what happens. Still waiting for my seedbox to be setup, but it's only been just over 24 hours.

I don't know much about setting up my on VPS, but I know Linux. I think it'd be a great learning experience.

Yeah, Only the windows VPS Had problems.
And , A VPS can be used as a seedbox or for webhosting.
Most of the people use them for webhosting, seedboxes and rapidleech.
And also, You cant expect seedbox speeds from a vps.
They may be comparable, but the seedbox speeds are always gonna be high :)
