Thread: Seedbox + VPN Question

Bytesized hosting now includes VPN's with their boxes free of charge



I got it all working set up perfectly now.

Current, I browse trackers on my own net and the download the .torrent file. I then SFTP the torrent to the seedbox.
Is it better to VPN to my seedbox then browser the trackers, download the .torrent and upload it via SFTP? Or does it really matter either way.
I also connect to my seedbox via VNC to stop/start/delete torrents.

Just not sure if its neccessary to use VPN to browse tracker, use SFTP and VNC to the box.

Well, honestly its not gonna make a difference either way. If u want the most security then using the VPN would be the best way. Also, if u have VNC with a web-browser installed, then there is no need to use the VPN. Just VNC to the server, open the browser, connect to your tracker, etc.. Its basically the same thing except the VNC connection isnt tunneled, but u could always tunnel the VNC connection with SSH if u wanted to.

Also, If u want to continue to use your own connection for all of this, then thats fine as well. There's realy no need to use all of those options and i would just stick to using your own connection & VNC to browse the trackers, add torrents and if u need to use the VPN at some point, then just use it when its needed. However, VPN's are great especially when u need them due to certain reasons, but just figure out whats the easiest/best way for u and then go that direction.
