    Default TorrentSwift Help

Hi Guys, Hope you can help me. I've had a seedbox from TS for a few days now, although i'm struggling somewhat! I've read Hakeem's guide but i'm still unsure about a few things...... Firstly is there a guide anywhere of what all the different sections mean, i.e Server load, connections, all the options on the profile page etc? I've had a look around and i cant find anything? Also, think there may be something up with my upload speed, for some reason i am getting pathetic upload speeds. For example i have downloaded 1 file from TL, it has 33 seeders and 7 leechers, why on earth am i only getting an upload speed of 2.0kbs and sometime no speeds at all, even though there are always leechers, albeit not may at some times. Thnaks in advance for your help guys

You have way more seeders than leechers you shouldn't even have tried to download 1 file from a torrent with those kind of stats.

Sort it by leechers if you can. Not sure, I don't have TL.

Use a torrent that has more leechers than seeders and if you have torrentswift you should get up to 6mb/s.

WhytDragon is correct, you've got too many seeders and probably 1 or more have a big fat pipe that's drowning you out. What I do is I watch and wait for a tv show to be released which is very popular (do a search and see how many times a show has been leeched). Then I come back after the show is over and wait for it to be released and BAM! I'm on it. I've seeded over 2,500% doing this but you've got to be there at the beginning otherwise your just playing catchup the whole time.

As far as the other stuff, I've never played with any of it. I read Hakeem's guide and loaded up a torrent file and let it fly, that's about it.

One thing that I have noticed is that I've had up to 6 torrents running at once (both cross-seeded and not) and as soon as I've killed all but 1 or 2 of them, the 2 torrents that I kept running all of a sudden pick up speed. I've had 1 or 2 running at about 500kBps with 3 or 4 more doing nothing. As soon as I kill the idle ones, the ones left running have jumped up to 600kBps-700kBps.

Getting a seedbox simply provides you with great bandwidth. What you end up doing with that bandwidth is all up to you.

Those seeders you see could very well also have seedboxes and you are competing with them (and they have the same bandwidth as you).

The leechers will also strongly prefer getting data from sources that are part of the swarm (still downloading themselves).

Finally, you have to be very careful in assuming that leechers are actually downloading anything at all. If they have selected just a portion of the torrent for download and are actively seeding that portion they will still be shown as leechers (very common on packs).

Select your torrents with care and you will have some blazing uploads in no time!!

Thanks for all your help guys. I sorta figured out to jump on the files with way to many leechers compared to seeders. I've currently got a couple of files on there uploading and i'm getting 700kb speeds which is great. Ratios are now heading firmly upwards.

Your spot on about the downloading the wrong type of files initially. I wanted to get my hands on a couple of seasons of some tv shows. which obviously didnt have the right seeder / leecher mix.

Just one quick question; would i be right in assuming the general principle is to jump on the files with lots of leechers to get your ratio up, and then to use the buffer to download what you want,i.e the old seasons of tv shows that i wanted.

    Thanks guys

That's exactly what I do. Get my buffer to a good place and then not worry about it!! Enjoy!
