I have a n00b question that if the server specs are high, like Intel core 2 Duo | 4 GB DDR2 like that,Will the transfers be fast irregardless of my ISP's speed?

I've read that "FTP downloading process depends on you ISP speed and not on Server specs"

The only problem I'm having with my seed-box is that I've downloaded
a 42GB file but transferring @ 115KBps to my computer will take ages!

If the server is Intel core 2 Duo | 4 GB DDR.Will the transfer process be faster?
I'm on a Intel Dual core | 2 GB DDR seed-box and is transferring @
115KBps to my computer from my seed-box.

i am no seedbox expert at all, but i am pretty sure that you can only download at speeds that your home connection allows. i think you will in most cases max out your 115kB/s, but since your home isp regulates what speeds you get you won't be able to go over that. hope i helped and answered your question. i may be wrong too since i am also new to seedboxes.

if my calculation is right it should take you 382958 seconds of continuous download to download this file. that would be little over 106 hours. before i did the calculation i didn't think it would be as much, but if you would really like to get this file you can let you PC running for about 4 and a half days. maybe over the weekend or when you leave town? just a suggestion. good luck.

A more powerful machine won't help, the cause of the slow download speed is most likely the bad routing between your ISP and the seedbox hosting company.

    Razor what is your connection?

What you have is a seedbox or a dedicated server/vps?

"FTP downloading process depends on you ISP speed and not on Server specs"

that's half true. FTP downloading depends on ISP speed and on Server's speed.

if you're getting 115kbs speed, then its pretty unlikely that the server is going to slow it down anymore than your home internet connection. I second MrE's suggestion of leaving it on when you're out of town or something OR if you have a laptop and a friend with a better connection, see if you can borrow their internet for a bit?
