    Hi,

I just recently bought my very first seedbox (from xirvik).

    it's a 100 mbit dedicated for 1 month.

I have a question about the upload speed though.

First off download goes as advertised at 100mbit but my upload is not nearly that.

The most i hit was 1 mByte on a torrent.

So i'm aware it all depends on the peers we are connected to for example and the limit they can go but let's say for example one torrent:

    Total seeders: 308
    Total peers:105
    Peers connected to me: 11
    Speed: 350 kBytes.

Does this sound right to the experienced guys?
I would assumed if i there were 105 peers i would be connected to the maximum (20 per torrent) and i would be going at least 2 mbyte/s (I'm estimating 100 kbyte per peers but i'm sure it can go way beyond that).

Please let me know if I am assuming right or if there are any tips to be going a littl faster...

Well think about it this way, your seedbox doesn't work like that, your not always going to be connected to 20 peers because there are way more factors involved you just really over simplified it.
The country where the peer is located matters, whether its ports are forwarded weather hes connected etc...
if you have 308 seeders, and 100 leechers, thats a 3:1 ratio, so dont expect high speeds.

Try to grab a new torrent uploaded to the site (one that you expect to go to be leeched like the hell) and then you can try your upload speed.

But, like VectorKing said, with a ratio in the torrent like that one you can't reach your upload speed correctly.

Think that like you have a server other guys have them. So if half of that ammount of seeders use a seedbox the upload speed that you've reached is quite normal.

I see, i guess the idea is to grab as many torrents as i can (that will have a heavy download) and it will be paced at about 100-300 kbytes/sec.

I actually got something good going now, took a torrent from one of my accounts that i have a good ratio and i'm sharing it on all the other torrent sites with their own torrent (same release).

Thanks guys, i just wanted to know if this was normal, you guys helped out.

I think you used a pretty bad example here. Your torrent has 3:1 seeder:leecher ratio and you are only connected to 11 leechers. Those 11 leechers may connect to 33 seeders each. So how much of their downloading bandwidth can you grab?

Try looking at torrents that have the most numbers of leechers.

I actually reached the full speed potential by uploading a torrent and being the only seeder so i know it works fine.

Your suggestion though can mislead ppl as it's not always true to look for the highest leecher count.

This is especially true with movie packs, tv seasons, etc... if someone wants to download only one movie from the pack or one season/episode for a tv series they will still show up as leechers when in fact they are not interested in downloading anything else from that torrent.

Bitmetv is notorious for having ppl banned because they were under the impression that a high leech count would allow them to build up their ratio.

Yesterday my upload reached 6Mb/s ... the torrent had 400 seeds and 170 peers
Today my ration on that torrent is almost 5.0

What I try to do is find a seed that has more leechers than seeders. If you find a torrent that has 20 up 50 down (and isn't really old) try that one.

The key is also trying pick a new torrent that you think is going to be popular and getting in on the ground floor.

It's like playing the stockmarket.....lol you want to get in early and ride that torrent to a big ratio!!!
