We will have unrar soon -- a plugin for rutorrent is being developed for us just for this.

We always always honor what we promise. It's company policy. Just some random notes about dedicated servers, $50 stuff, and so on:

    - OVH, formerly the best home for seedboxes, is very very hostile towards torrents lately. Speed throttling, low priorities, etc, happening to most models. Not that their support has ever been good, but at least they made up in price and speed when things worked.
    - Other datacenters are a lot more professional in support (replying in minutes instead of days, replacing hardware just because the user says it's broken instead of expecting pages of proof), and have great connectivity, but they charge for it. You get what you pay for, and if you want a team of German technicians to be available 24x7 to monitor your top notch server (these guys don't use B grade hardware at all) in their huge connection you definitely are going to pay for this.
    - We, Xirvik, and I assume many other seedboxes companies are looking for alternatives to OVH all the time. This means raising prices because like it or not, OVH is the cheapest provider and our margins are already thin, so thre is no other way.
    - OVH is still good for torrents but not so much for FTP. If your ISP doesn't peer with OVH (meaning they exchanges traffic directly, without a 3rd party) traffic will get low priority and well, speed will suck. This is if you get an unmetered plan. If you are OK with getting 3,4,5, 10 or whatever TB per month of transfer then there is no problem.
    - We have been in talks with several datacenters. We bring a lot of business (well, it seems like a lot to us - maybe it's just a drop in the ocean) so usually they are helpful and willing to accomodate us.
    - In Germany we get good prices, so good that we sell our preconfigured servers with unmetered traffic a lot cheaper than you could get buying direct.
    - In the US we managed to have the datacenter build custom servers from us (they don't have them for sale at their page).
    - Other datacenters will follow.
    - OVH now charges a setup fee in all servers, which we must obviously pass to the customers. Setup fee suck, because when you get a broken server (5% chance with OVH) it can easily take 10 days to have it fixed. What we have done before and conitnue to do is order a new server, give it to the user, and then fight with OVH to return the old one or fix it so we can reuse it. If we fail to have it fixed we return it and eat the cost - but with the setup fee that's not just one month of server rental. In order to compensate 80 euros or so for a setup fee + one month we need to have a decent number of good servers.

I think it's important that users know this stuff because there's a lot going on in the seedbox scene due to OVH's recent game changes, and almost everything is bad, except for the fact that eventually we will abandon then and find home in decent datacenters.

This feature has already been built into the new rutorrent 3.0 beta. Ive been testing the new beta for a couple of weeks now and it seems pretty stable. They just added the unrar feature with the latest svn revision, but i think u need to have the unrar dependencies for your distro. I havent updated yet to this revision, but i know its been added.

This is what I've been offering to members in the seedbox give-away. I haven't had any complaints yet so I assume it's good.

Should be within 24 hours. Once, I had the info in 3 hours after signup. Another time, it took almost 22 hours. I've read others who waited a couple days, but I don't think I've heard of anyone waiting a week. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, I just haven't read about it.
