guess the only way for you is to ask them to switch servers. You are right that there are few bad reviews and alot of good ones...that's why I chose them too.

Thing is around Christmas I had 2 boxes from them(one promotional + regular) and that's when I experienced the slow speeds on one of the boxes.... however there was no problem with the other one and I was getting max FTP speeds.
I didn't ask for a switch because the problem dissapeared after a few days, but if you say you're getting this since day one then you should ask..also try to ask for a refund if they can't do it!

    Thanks for the advice andi,

Ha, My "Deal" was the Christmas Special....

I will say, that through all these problems, I told him that I wanted to work through it and remain a customer, but I don't see how this is possible now.

I did indeed ask for a refund for the remaining balance on my term, and of course that was "Not Possible" after 24 hrs... He did say that he would move me, and I agreed to lose the 1Gbps line for a 100Mbps line (It's got to be better then 15-30 kbps), but that was almost 4 days ago, and nothing has been done...

This experience is such a far cry from what others have posted about superseedbox, It really make you wonder....

U are not the only one who is having problems with OVH's FTP speeds. Go search the OVH forums or any forum on a tracker and u will see what im talking about. This is and has been a problem with OVH for months now and if your Dentoo box is not OVH then it doesnt matter cause they are different data centers and networks, regardless of the servers location.

Anyway, it seems u been having other issues besides this. Like u said its a Customer service thing now and if u ran a tracert and use a multi-thread client then there's little left u can do for the FTP. Hope this works out for u.

Thank you for your comments MikeD. I too hope this works out.

In my defense, I didn't make the purchase from OVH, I made it with superseedbox. So, in a matter of speaking, it's still their responsibility to make good on my purchase (even if that means moving me to a completely different host) or refund my money... It really is that simple.

Have you tried to increase the number of concurrent connections? I use superseedbox as well and I live outsite Europe. I too find that individual ftp connection is slow, however, if you open multiple connections, you can get very good speed. I cannot remember the maximum concurrent connections you can have, maybe super MAC will be able to confirm it.

    theXader,
Thank you for your suggestions, and as a matter of fact I tried poping the FTP port with 10 (and 3, 5,7) concurrent connections, it made no difference. In fact, I have one screen shot of 3 out of 10 (the other 7 connections would take about 2-3 minutes to simply complete the handshake) connections and the fastest connection was 10.4 Kbps, over 11 hours to download 815megs..... :-(.

I pulled the same torrent from my home connection in less then 10 min using Vuze.

What make me think it's a box problem is the WebGUI with 7 torrents seeding would take almost 90 seconds to fully open, and It would constantly lock up on me, but I don't truly know if it has any real relation to the FTP issue. The box is locked down pretty tight, and since I can't create a torrent on the box to see how long the box takes to hash the files, its hard for me to compare to my other boxes (I know there are a lot of factors to weigh in when doing that).

Anyway,. thanks again for the help!!

I just got the following email from them:

    "SuperSeedbox Updates

    Server Maintanence :
We have Completed our server maintanence work and everything is all Setup and runnign now.

    FTP Problems:
There has been a major issue with the ftp speeds.
Users from America Expecially US are experiencing low ftp speeds.
The reason for this is Our main Server host is OVH France
and recently there has been major problem with thier Network to countires outside Europe.

    FTP Soloution:
There is no perfect solution for this ftp problem but to shift our host.
We have started moving our servers to a Better and reliable host from europe.
If you experience very low ftp speeds and if the speeds are very less and unacceptable then please write to us and we will shift your seedbox on a different host.
As you know shifting host is not an easy task
ask for seedbox shift only if you have a very serious issue with the seedbox and which is unacceptable.

    New Orders:
After almost a month we will be accepting new orders.
We will start accepting new orders from 3rd Feb 2010 with New plans comming up.

    andi,
Thanks for the update, getting more from you guys then from them... j/k... I talked with Mac early Sunday morning, he said that he would move us, and that he will work on it, so we are in a waiting mode right now.

I did not get that notice by the way...

I am glad to see that they have recognized the wide spread issue, and are taking the proper steps to resolve it, that at least shows signs of maturity, and if they do follow through properly, is indeed what you want to see in a company.

I will keep you posted for sure..

Have you tried downloading with rsync, scp or http? What speeds do you get with those methods?

That would tell you once and for all if it was routing or an FTP issue.

I'll go back and re-read all the posts now to see if you have mentioned this before.

    Q

PS. 15k/s morning from OVH for me today. It happens every now and again but usually only lasts a few hours.
