Default ruTorrent problem, google has failed me

So I've got an error in my ruTorrent. rTorrent seems to be running fine on the VPS, but when I try to launch the webui, I get:

    [08.04.2012 08:44:13] WebUI started.
    [08.04.2012 08:44:14] Bad response from server: (0 [null,getplugins])
    [08.04.2012 08:44:14] Bad response from server: (0 [error,getplugins])

Of course, I did a google search on it, and came back with a few hits, but they were all for error code 500. I redefined my google search criteria to specify 0 and I came up with a few hits saying

    [15.03.2011 22:46:02] Bad response from server: (0 [null,getplugins])
    [15.03.2011 22:46:02] Bad response from server: (0 [error,getplugins])
    [15.03.2011 22:46:04] Bad response from server: (0 [null,getuisettings])
    [15.03.2011 22:46:04] Bad response from server: (0 [error,getuisettings])

But this is not what I am experiencing.

It is a fresh install from a default template on a VPS. There's no reason why it shouldn't be working. Of course, I have rebooted the server yet seems to do no good. Anyone have any ideas?

It looks like your web servers is not properly configured to run with rutorrent or your running the wrong server for example:

you should be running lighttpd but Apache is running in the background so lighttpd never started. or vice versa.

I stopped apache and got the

    [15.03.2011 22:46:04] Bad response from server: (0 [null,getuisettings])
    [15.03.2011 22:46:04] Bad response from server: (0 [error,getuisettings])

errors, as well as the plugin error.

lighttpd is not installed. Also, the webui worked for 2 days before randomly giving this error.

well im not sure which server you should be running so this was just an example.

You might try removing the plugins folder and redownloading it..

Other then that, maybe contact your provider if you have one.

I'm pretty sure that refreshing the webui would be the first thing anybody would do......

Also, I deleted the plugins folder and added them back in one at a time to find which produced the error. Thanks for the tip SeedStuff

Can only be done via SSH, not through the webGUI
