Thread: Got burned.

I have been a long time lurker on these forums and was wondering if I could get some advice from you fine folks. I have had a couple different seed boxes in the past; I have never had an issue before.

On Feb 23 I bought a slot for a seed box from a company called Rapidleechhosting.net (I know untrustworthy name, but they looked legitimate) My box got set up pretty quickly, which was awesome. I bought a box that had RUtorrent, instead I received Transmission. I little odd, I would of preferred RUtorrent but I can get over this, they later told me that RUtorrent was broken and they were looking into it. I played around with it a bit but was not getting the speeds I thought I would get. I was told wait a bit and try latter to see if my speeds got better. After a couple days my speeds got no better, I accepted this as I did not pay too much for this box.

I left a ticket support about the speeds and was told that I was lying, and that they tried downloading something on the box and received 50mb/s. I was then told that he bets me $100 that I will get these speeds when I download. I told him that was a silly thing to bet on and that i was looking for some help not a bet. That ticket was removed latter that day.

on Feb 30th my seed box went down. I emailed support and got no response, I left a ticket on the third and got got told it was still up, it clearly was not. I left another ticket saying that my seed box is down and really would like to have it working. on the 6th I finally got fed up and requested a refund. I got a response that told me he is getting 13mb/s down and that I should give it a try and that I will like it.

A couple days later I decided to request a refund with through PayPal. This ended poorly for me as servers are not tangible items thus there is no proof that it is working or not. I tried to explain that you can try connecting to it but that got me nowhere. I then tired with my credit card company and they gave me the same response.



So I dumb out of luck and have run out of options to try to fix this situation. The only thing I can do at this point is warn other of this host.

Take what you want from this: I have learned from this experience that you should spend a great deal of time looking for how reputable a company is before buying from them. I did do some research but I took the first couple reviews I saw and jumped on board, I should of looked harder as it looks like I’m not the only one who has had problems with them.

I am surprised that you went with them. They are beyond expensive and one of the biggest ripoff hosts ive seen in a while.
They seriously still offer a seedbox that is 20GB? And $67 for 200GB !?!Please remember that HDD's nowadays on servers would average around 1TB. So 20GB? He oversells and his prices are astronomically high, not to mention the sketchyness of his site.
I would expect this from a provider that comes off like this. You have to use some "common sense" when looking into these things man. Someone pushing prices like these and specifications is just doing it either for the laughs at getting people to actually buy them, or simply to really beat the shit out of people.
Reguardless of what his site looks like, he says nothing about the servers themselves, users on the server, connection speed or anything.

Just for anyone whos looking, I'd look at the following for each or ask them each these questions at a minimum.
1. Where are they located?
2. Actual HDD size?
3. How many people per disk?
4. Server connection speed? Any throttling or caps?
5. Geolocation of the server? Ask for an IP to ping/trace

Theres plenty more, but i hate seeing people like you get raped by a provider like this. Just by looking at their site you can tell they are not really a provider, but more of "seedbox rapists". They make the seedbox industry look bad by providing the absolute worst plans and from the sound of it worst support.

I know this may look hypocritical, as I run a little dedicated server thing and I dont have any kind of website or anything. But i certainly would never rip anyone off or price things like this to this extent.

I would advise EVERYONE never to even touch the host mentioned. It sickens me that they still exist.

Well there is a plan for $10 for a 20 gig slot with 100mb/s line. I chose the for three months because they had a promotion to get a % off. I just needed it to hold two 700mb files every Saturday. I was with another host that had a similar name and they were great for pretty much the same price. So i figured that this was pretty much the same.

But I guess the world is not as awesome as I would imagine it to be.

Just like to add that when you disputed you should of chose service as the product and explained that you were promised X for so many days abut only had it for Y days. I was able to get a paypal refund from a server provider this way.

I tired that with both paypal and Visa; they both told me that both the fact that I have received it and that is an intangible object, which they won’t do anything to help. Paypal stressed the fact that they do not do anything for quality of service.

Sorry to hear you got burned, please trust me when I saw we are not all like that. If your looking for a good reliable provider, you can always check us out :)

I have actually purchased a slot with WhatBox, I love there service it’s renewed my faith in seedboxes. I wish I knew about your box when I was purchasing, defiantly would of supported a fellow Canadian.

It probably is.

Yeh, sucks though. Can't we all just be one big happy team?
