Default Need some help on choosing seedbox

Ok I know its all up to me and what I want but I've been looking at reviews and i'm stuck on 2 sites. Whatbox.ca and seed.st.

I like reviews on both but i'm confused on the upload speeds.

Seed.st shows an average of 2mb/s on the 100mb plan. Then I see people getting up to 16mb/s on a 100mb plan. Am I missing? why are up speeds much faster on whatbox when both plans are the same? sorry the newb question but its confusing me

I believe it can be quite misleading in just by looking at these averages. Many variables has to be taken into account for a fair comparison.

    1. Peers should be the same. Say if you have peers from China, obviously you won't get any better speeds.
    2. Location of server. I am not a customer of whatbox, but I believe their servers are based in NL. Honestly the quality of network from NL would be much better.

Because how Whatbox limits bandwidth, it make sense that they guarantee at least 100MB/s on a shared 1Gbps.

Conclusion, the plans written might be the same, but the setup could be different. You never know until you try them out.

Raul, no hard feelings but seedmonster is what I have now and I wasn't to happy with your upload speeds. I averaged at about 250kbps. These two claim to have higher then that so i'm checking out my options.

    Seeyabye,
your right, won't know until you try then out. I was hoping to see people who have used them an elaborate a bit more.
My account with seedmonster ends on the 25th so I still have 4 days for people to chime in

Its also very dependant on the torrents as well as the trackers swarm.

You can't expect to be seeding 2mbps all day everyday on the same torrent. Torrents die and you need to be actively changing them out to get the best speeds.

As for the tracker, some trackers are REALLY hard to seed on, while others are easy. Seedboxes don't always mean instant win but they sure help.

Feel free to check us out too ;)

I understand that, what I meant was that's that's the average speed I see even on new hot torrents

Yes, it ends in 4 days. I did contact support and was told it was my torrent. That it wasnt a popular torrent. Well I tried it again with a popular torrent and still had same speeds.

BlkCivic I understand where you're coming from and I've fallen victim to the same conundrum: trying to find the fastest Seedbox on uploads. May I ask what tracker you are basing your speeds on? The reason I ask is because when I first started out on SCC I was only averaging a 20-100 KBps up on new torrents on my first seedbox. So I began to question whether or not it was the seedbox and set out on trying out other boxes. Since I first joined TI I have probably tried out somewhere between 5 and 8 different seedbox providers.

What I have found is that the quicker you can get on a newly uploaded torrent the more likely you are to upload at faster speeds. Kind of makes sense right? The faster you get the torrent the more likely a peer is going to go to you for the data. This became even more evident when I began using Autodl-irssi. Now on SCC I average MUCH MUCH faster upload speeds because I get in so early on the torrent and I have more of the data available compared to others.

Also, in my different trials I found that some providers definitely oversell their boxes which inevitably leads to slower upload speeds. Common sense, there's only so many resources to go around on a seedbox when shared amongst several users so there's no real guarantees. If you want guarantees you will have to shell out the big bucks for more dedicated servers.

Now my two cents won't be complete without a recommendation, and so far I am happiest with SeedRootS - Welcome Page. The service and support is impeccable. <3 Lardo. The only downside here is it's only a 100Mbps box. If you want gigabit I'm having some good luck with Hostingsharedbox.com on their B3000 box. If you want more insight into other boxes I've tried feel free to PM me or find me on IRC.

On another note, what are you looking to accomplish with your seedbox? Are you looking to just buffer your account or fix your ratio? I've found, and there are probably people who would disagree with me, that ratios come moreso with time than the speed of your box. The longer you seed a torrent the more likely your ratio is to go up. I have one particular torrent that I've been seeding since it first hit the scene. (Inception 1080p). To this day I have a 400+ ratio on it with terabytes of data moved from a 100Mbps box.

SeedRoots is good, hoping they eventually get 1GB boxes. That would be incredible.
