    Default Seed box start up

    Hey guys,

I know that there are a few threads about this and I apologize in advance to people who will be angry at me, but I was just wanting to know if someone would be willing to allow me to pick their brains regarding seed boxes, how to start up, setting up etc. I currently have an OVH dedicated server that I have been playing around on and learning Linux but there's quite a few questions that I haven't been to find the answers to. Any help or knowledge that could be spared would be greatly appreciated

If I were you, I would try and follow the guides in the seedbox tutorial section and start a thread in the help section of this site explaining any problems you may come across. This way many people, including myself, will see your questions and hopefully respond to them quickly.. :)

    Welcome
But i have to say, you have a shitload to learn man. Anyone can install a torrent client and ftp logins on a server and sell off chunks. There are many repeated plans and slightly differing variations across many different providers. However, to really become successful you need to find a niche that your good at and thats different from the typical ovh/kimi/lw/sl split servers. Come up with a decent datacenter and plans that are new and unique. Doing so will make you successful.
Learn alot about linux, networking and global connectivity. This will help you in your journey to become a decent provider, this wont take days, weeks or months but more like years.
If you ever need any new and exciting server offers, PM me and ill help you out.

Hi there and welcome to the seedbox world. There's a lot to learn and the learning curve is quite tight if this is your first time using Linux. Nevertheless, don't be afraid to do what you must and learn from the mistakes. Experience counts. It is the foundation for every command that should be executed. Until today I still take a lot of time googling and understanding the commands. So yeah, it's a lot to learn. Remember to check out the seedbox tutorial section before you ask existing questions.

Haha yes I have come to realise that there is a MOUNTAIN of stuff to learn, but I'm pretty keen to learn something new. I've been toying with the idea for sometime and I have finally taken the plunge. Google is my best mate at the moment haha.

I have already found one or two tutorials that I'm going to try out when I get back home.

Well I've had a look in the tutorial section regarding this question and haven't been able to find anything. I've googled it to and come up with 2 answers. My question is how to setup a Linux server and have say 5 users on it each with their own portion of hdd space, say 250gig, and login. One of the answers I got from google was to use WHMC (I think thats what it's called) and the other was to partion the hdd for each individual user. I would also need to purchase more IPs from the hosting provider as well wouldn't I otherwise they would all be using the same IP?

My current setup has different users (me and 2 of my mates) but we all share the hdd and when they login via FTP they can access the root folders and whatever else.

Any help would again be greatly appreciated :)

I plan on giving away a user or 2 on my seedbox to TI members once I can get this setup.

There are several tutorials in the section which deal with this when discussing "Multi-user" rutorrent setup.
