Thread: Cheap seedboxes

Now that I got an insane amount of upload credit with my whatbox.ca box, I'm looking for something cheap I don't have to feel bad about wasting if I don't use it a lot. (I actually don't torrent very frequently)

Price between $5 and $10 (The closer to five the better)



I would like a decent amount of HDD space, but in exchange, I don't really care much about speed.

I was thinking of getting a VPN and just torrenting form home, but then it would drain our pathetically slow internet (3Mbit) and I can only upload at 80KB a second here.

So maybe something with ~100GB HDD space and 1MB up or so?

Not sure you will find something in that price bracket.
What you have to remember, is hdd space and connection is not that important to a provider (normally there is ample)
What is a problem for providers is disk I/O Basically every torrent which is active (actually sending or receiving data) causes disk I/O so even if you only have 100gb and 1MB speed, you could be running 30+ torrents easily.
Disk I/O would be lower as the speed is lower, but still there and noticeable. Its why you dont see many providers offering really small and cheap space slots (apart from ones who offer SSD storage)

Seed.st has a 225gb, 100Mbit download 2Mbit upload for $10, or $3 weekly. It sounds like what you need and I have nothing bad to say about them.

Unlimited bandwidth, and you could easily pass whatbox's Flex upload cap(1.5 TB) within a month.

I can give you a rutorrent box 75gb space 1gbit connection for $4.95 just let me know if your interested (rutorrent/deluge)

is that for a month Biohost?

Ooh, double HDD space, that's what was making me look at KPH badly before. I might go with you guys.

I've been looking at them, they seem like the best known of my current options. Still, at $10 it's easy to justify paying the extra $5 to get a whatbox slot again which I know I really like.

Is that standard at biohost? I'll check you guys out. How many people is the 1Gbit shared by?
Edit: Just went to the site, I get an SSL error when clicking "https://www.biohost.info/whmcs/cart.php?gid=2". Bit cautious because of some of the reviews to.
Double Edit: Well, now I'm really stumped. I thought KPH was 2MB/s but it's 2Mbit/s =/

Be aware of biohost. Service is equals to zero. Endless setup time. Read last post Biohost.info . Live support icon on the main site says always "offline". Better spend a bit more money and forget about biohost
