Thread: Windows Dedicated Server Providers

Howdy folks,



Looking for a provider who can do a dedicated Kimsufi 2Gb server or similar with a Windows OS for a reasonable price. Looking to run a seedbox + ASP.NET/IIS + PostgreSQL + a few custom batch processing apps. Any recommendations?

Unmetered isn't important, the box shouldn't be serving up more than 1-2TB a month.

I've looked briefly through the advertising forum, but if people are doing Windows boxen there, they're being quite shy about it :P

yeah, +1 to what special one recommended, bluboy is your guy for windows boxes as well as linux ones

For best prices, It would be to buy off OVH reseller and then install Windows yourself for free ;)

I have been using SeedRootS for about 2 months and have very impressed. Just one person, but tickets have always been responded to within an hour or two, and speeds are good for the very low price.

I currently run the half dedicated seedbox ($15 for half of a kimsufi 2g), but recently have been looking for a little more hp, and would really like a SQL Server Sandbox to play around in - plus I'm a huge Windows fan (easy haters ).

Been looking into Windows RDP/VPS setups, and haven't found much worthwhile in my price range... Especially since I want Admin rights.
I messaged him today, and said he would install windows on a dedi for an extra $5/ month bringing it to $33 for a full root access dedi! If you have a legit license he would even install for free.

I'm probably gonna grab one in the next few days, so I'll make sure to post a review though.

Don't know the provider, but I'd be very careful if he is offering to install Windows on OVH and the windows is not licensed. Have had many friends install unlicensed copies of windows on OVH and their boxes got shut down within a day or two. Just figured I would toss that out to make sure you got all the details.

Just wanted to mention that the windows provided by seedroots is fully licensed, in fact the license is from OVH, so you shouldn't worry about having your box shut down or anything like that.

BTW the $5/ mo windows is 2008 R2 Web Version.

You should have no problem using if for "ASP.NET/IIS + PostgreSQL", but their are obviously some limitations - though I highly doubt they would effect ANYONE in a non-enterprise setting. I want to say that the biggest limitations have to do with SAMBA connection limits? but am unsure.

I do know that if you are in the 0.1% that the Web Version does not work for, he can get you other versions (they are obviously a bit more expensive though).
