-disregard my earlier reply; here's my new one-

2.5TB outgoing... That is not a whole lot unless you are sure you won't need that amount of data monthly... My Gbit-servers each do at least 15TB monthly outgoing but I guess I must be mis-informed about how speedy you want to seed and how much you are able to seed hourly/daily/monthy... 2.5TB out = 80GB/day = 3GB/hour = 1.5 minute of full speed seeding each hour...

Sorry mate but so far I only seen replies like "what is MBps vs Mbps", "what is cap", "that looks shit", "I don't like this"... But you are trying to get front-row Superbowl seats for the price of a can of coke, so to say...

Either up your budget or start out on a low budget and TRY "limited" plans to even see if you can wrap your head about what a seedbox can do for you and how it works...
I know I'm a total noob to this, hence the thread. I should have specified earlier, but I was hoping people would critique my question / replies. I know I'm asking for a lot for cheap, but I'm accepting limits, I was just looking for the best deal for a product I'm not familiar with. I'm almost for sure going to get the heat plan at whatbox.ca to figure this all out. Their customer support seems pretty good in IRC, and I like the speed / limit to cost ratio. Big HDD, very fast, bandwidth is the only constiction, but limiting to 5Mbps isn't that bad. Plus you can add 2.5TB more bandwidth for $3.

Kimsufi is an incredible deal for the price, but it's self managed, which I'm probably too noob for at this point in time, and $21 vs $18 seems like a small difference, but it's a bit easier to justify for me. Tempting though because of the higher bandwidth limit (5TB) but I'm not sure.

The tutorials on these forums to install a server yourself are pretty spot on... Apart from one or two commands you need to fill out yourself due to "your IP" or "your username", there shouldn't be a big problem installing a KimSufi.

What you can do; rent a seedbox for less to give it a try and during that month, install something like VMware Workstation on your PC (if your PC supports it) and download an ISO for Debian Linux and use the tutorials to make that into your test seedbox... You get to know the commands to install and if you manage to get it working, all you need for next month is rent a KimSufi and reproduce all commands and you're done :)

Yeah, that's my current plan =) I'm going to go with Whatbox.ca's Heat plan for a month or two most likely, while I figure out private trackers, and what speeds to expect, and if seedboxes are even for me, etc. Then when I'm serious about it, I'll probably get a 2G server. I do like it being managed though =/

    Managed is overrated :)

I was new to it all as well about 18 months ago... Got me a KS, installed it using different tutorials & VMware-testing, climbed up some ranks here and there, became tracker-owner / Elite / uploader on several trackers, and now "managing" around 10 servers on daily basis... Well, managing... Installed them, they running no sweat, sometimes see if updates are available and that's it...

Get the install right and you have almost no management needed.

Nice comment... For a managed service...

Yet, for $30/month and some willingness to learn, one can get a full KS 2G with 5TB data and have change to spare for additional traffic... Not sure about the current exchange-rates but guessing KS 2G + 8TB = $30...

If you're going to blatantly advertise, at least know what you're saying. The whatbox Heat plan is $18. The basic seedstuff plan is $20. That's not "for that amount of money" and besides, I don't want my bandwidth split among 3 other people. I'd rather have whatbox's 300Mbps to myself then 100Mbps shared. And it's cheaper.

@Dutch It's definitely on my mind. I don't even know how much bandwidth I'll use though as I said, so for the first month at least, there's no way I'm going unmanaged. I've never used a seedbox or private tracker before, so I really want this to go smoothly.

I've been using seed.st for a few months, no troubles at all, and very fast! I'm on the 1gbit plan for $25 p/mth. Only downside is the 50gb hard disk quota, but otherwise it is very fast, and they have fantastic customer service! I would definitely recommend them!

Oh, by the way Dutch, the $18 Heat plan at whatbox.ca actually has a 3x faster connection then the Kimsufi boxes. So it's not better for me, and it's $3 more.
