    Default Seedbox share

I'm just testing the water here, no plans yet, just want to know if people would consider.

Ok I'm thinking about upgrading from my Kimsufi 2G to the Kimsufi 16G:
    Intel i5 4x 2.66+ GHz (they actually have given me a sandybridge 2300 x4 2.8Ghz)
    16GB RAM
    2TB HD
    GigaEthernet at 100Mb/s (unlimited really)

However I was thinking that I probs wouldn't use all of it resources so I was thinking of splitting it (unevenly but still quite nicely), the sharer would get:
    1 cpu core 2.66Ghz
    4GB RAM
    500GB HD
Dunno about connection would have to have some kind of balancing tbh I rarely use much as I use the server for other things but I'd want guarenteed bandwidth constantly of 10Mb/s.

Now for the price for this other person, quite alot of power for the price!

    Any thoughts?

    NEW Offer!

    1 cpu core 2.66Ghz
    4GB RAM
    500GB HD

    (All negotiable)

    £10/month

You will get a virtual machine running with me as we will be sharing an ip well need to be a little careful with ports but should be fine.

You can run whatever operating system you like including windows 7 so you can then use utorrent or whatever.

(Id prefer you to use win 7 or ubuntu if you want help from me)

The French ones are unlimited: Kimsufi - votre gamme de serveurs dédiés à partir de 14.99 Euros/mois !

On the other hand you can only set a guuaranted bandwidth for yourself when you split it in mutliple VPS containers, which costs extra money and space. You also have to be able to set it up properly.

I think it's a nice deal and you will sure find someone, but it's not the right deal for me.

First of all we have to make clear that 100Mbps = 12.5MB/s.

If we compare Elephant's offer with a semi dedicated Kimsufi 2G from Seedroots:

    Space: 500GB v.s 500GB
Processor: 1 dedicated CPU core 2.66Ghz on Elephant's offer v.s a loosely shared 1.20+Ghz Atom
RAM: 4GB dedicated from Elephant and 2GB shared between two from Seedroots
Connection: 90Mbps dedicated v.s 100Mbps shared between two
    Price: about the same

You also have to keep in mind the Seedroots is a company that offers excellent support, which also has it's price.
On the other hand you don't get root access with Seedroots semi dedicated plan and may get it from Elephant.

If you need support go for Seedroots, because they can set you up everything and their support is pretty fast on the other hand Elephants offer is the better deal if you don't need that.

Just need Elephant to confirm that it should be 90mb line and if root access available and maybe a little support if needed.

Thnx for the input Magister..some valid points...i guess its probably worth a go.

95% of the time I use less than 10Mb according to the ovh usage graphs, overall we'd be sharing the connection based on mutual trust that one won't hog the entire thing, however if I can set a vps up that may change everything.
Vps also would play a big part in the root discussion if I setup vps it'd be literally like you have your own server with root but while I have confidence in myself that I am capable of setting it up, I have never set one up before so may not happen.
In any circumstance Id be happy to help you with anything, it'd be on an informal basis but I would put quite alot of time into any problem you may have mainly because I enjoy solving problems. This would include running any root commands you may have if we dont get a vps.
Some of the specs are negotiable (except increasing cpu) if you need more hd for instance we may sort something out.
Just for the record, I use my seedbox mainly for game servers, thus why I need the cpu and ram, torrents running all all from high level trackers so rarely get much activity. You are welcome to run whatever you want on your core, if you would like another ip it costs £1/month extra.
    I use kimsufi.co.uk

    I'm definately interested mate....but.....

    1) If not by VPS, how else were you gonna split it?

    2) If you are familiar with servers and commands then i'm sure you'l easily be able to set up the VPS with the help of a good couple of tutorials here and Drauka has previously offered his help of talking me through it...so am sure he would offer his help....Magister is always helpful and has great knowledge so am sure it could be done.

    3) I'm not quite sure how u only manage to use 10Mb 95% of the time while using high end trackers (not that familiar with the high end trackers but this doesn't seem right), but seeing as you are willing to be a little flexible on the hard drive, i'm willing to settel at getting at least a guaranteed 50Mb bandwith which i'm sure you could set with a VPS.

    4) Would i need a seperate IP? Most trackers allow shared IPs for seedboxes no?

I'm pretty sure now it'd have to be vps, I could do hd partitions and proc affinity but vps is by far the best. I may indeed have a few questions for people here about it! As for my useage, most of the torrents Im on have at least 10 other seedboxes seeding and one leecher every now and then even if that leecher is a seedbox we are each only going to get 10Mb/s upload for a few minutes in the best case.

Thats my usage the orange line is the key.
The ip thing is just if you wanted it it's not needed.
