    I have always preferred Debian, but thats just personal preference.
    Ubuntu is a good choice if your not to familiar with linux as there is plenty of helpful forums around for it.

    I think that Deb & Ub are equally easy to learn where Deb seems to be the more stable of the two, but that is just my opinion. Your question is a bit open; you don't mention if you want to run other things, like a desktop, stuff like Webmin, maybe RapidShare or usenet so there might be a slight problem to install the seedbox yourself since it seems you got zilch experience on Linux.

    Like said above, if you really have no idea as to what you are doing then choose whatever version of ubuntu is available in their panel. Then use the install script to install a client and such. It wont necessarily make much of a difference as to what os, if your not going to be using it for anything other than a basic client and ftp
