    SFTP:
FTP over a secure shell (FTP over SSH)
The user needs SSH access and it's an incombatible securing method for FTP

    FTPS (FTP with SSL-TLS)
Encrypts the entire data stream, because of the use of SSL
Doesn't need much more resources - not really slower

The latter one is prefered, because it's much more secure.

I not much of a security guru, but you should look into tors. It's pretty widely accepted as the most anonymous way to get on the net

I tested it once and speeds go from 1kb/s to 90kb/s max, depending on which server, ergo it was horrible.
Trackers can identify that you use TOR as well, therefore they ban you and also using a new IP every few minutes will also result in a ban.

Slightly offtopic but how does one goes about to implementing FTPS? I am currently using FTP over SSH but the more secure the better.

Well, from what I know about tor's, there not made to be used with the bittorrent protocols. It's more commonly used with FTPs. I have never personally used them, but like I said, it's pretty wildly accepted as the most anonymizing method out there. Like Magister said, trackers can see that you're on a tor and don't generally allow them. But, since your using a VPN, I would assume this would be fine(ish). Since you would only be through a tor to get the torrent file. If you got permission from tracker admins to use tors, I have no idea if they would allow you to use them, you could download the torrent from the tracker using tor, them upload it to your VPN over SSH, then download your data from the VPN with the tor.

Another method would be to get another user from the tracker download the torrent file for you, alter the torrent file replacing their passkey with your passkey, then give you the torrent file. I don't know if this would set off any flags and it's definitely shady, but the end term result really isn't breaking any rules ( I think ). As long as they you tell them you have a VPN, and give them its IP, I'm not sure your really doing anything wrong. Once the torrent is finished on the VPN, just use the tor to get the data from the VPN.

Personally, since your using their internet, I don't think there is any foolproof way to anonomize your activities, but I think tors are going to be your best bet since their specifically designed to disallow monitoring of traffic within them.

Tor is okay for browsing. A VPN is your best bet for total traffic encryption. (if you want ive got some.. pm me)

    Best VPN is cryptocloud.

Good speeds, don't keep logs and will try their best to tell police to fuck off.
