Thread: I want a seedbox

What seedboxes will let me use Utorrent. I'm lost with with what the hell the whole rtorrent is (some linux crap?).

Anyways I want something for a total newb that is a no brainer (like seedboxes for dummies).

Why do I want one? Love to seed but kills the family internet experience when I have all the bandwith throttled.

Are there any choices for me? If rtorrent is it, how do I use that?

I'm running windows7 64 and UTORRENT (love that program).

For starters you're going to have to choose your speed. You're probably going to want eithe 100mbit line or a 1gbit line. The next thing is hard drive space. Do you download a lot and like to seed it forever? Then you're going to want a huge hard drive. rTorrent is coded for unix, but it acts pretty much like uTorrent. You access it through the webUI, so it's basically like uTorrent on a website.

Have a look in the seedbox advertising forum and see what prices suit you. Then read reviews from theprovider you have in mind and if they're all good order the box!

Yea I want high speeds and as long as I can DL and seed for a few days until the swarm is strong and move the DL content to my PC then thats all I need.

Question: When I DL something to the seed box how does that work. Can I move my files around like I do on my pc or...? Like if I have files(torrent) on my pc can I move them to the seedbox and visversa?

So you would download the .torrent file like normal, but instead of double clicking it and opening it in uTorrent on your computer, you would goto the webUI and upload the torrent to your seedbox. It will then start downloading the selected torrent into a folder.

You have FTP access which yes allows you to move files and folders around, create new folders and download files to your computer and vice versa.

Rutorrent is basically a clone of utorrent and very easy to use. We offer a $5 one week trial you may want to check out. Since your new to seedboxes I would start with a 100mbps line and see if you need more from there. Our noon boxes are very highly rated and great for beginners such as yourself. :)

I'm using Whatbox's 300mbps plans and I must say it's excellent. Speeds are great and a very cheap price for what you need. Excellent features as well.

What type of UL speeds do you get with "whatbox"? 100Mbit is like.....??? I really like the prices of "whatbox" so it might be worth a try.

It doesn't say how many people they put on a server but 100Mbps = 12.5MB/s and you share it with all the other people they put on the server. It's probably around 4 people. So you can expect speeds in the range of 2-5MB/s on average.
Because you are need to seedbox I would really recommend you checking out some tutorials about seeding, because especially when it comes to high speeds there is also skill involved.
