    If you have Ubuntu 10.04 or later.

    Check first to see if multiverse repo is enabled (see multiverse word on last line) and add multiverse line at the end if needed.

    Code:
    $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
    deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu lucid main restricted universe multiverse
    deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu lucid-updates main restricted universe multiverse
    deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu lucid-security main restricted universe multiverse
    If you have multiverse repo enabled install flash plugin from package
    Code:
    $ sudo apt-get update
    $ sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
    That's it simple and easy.

    Gotta agree with UltraSbox... I'm not gonna name companies but seen more than one VPS-provider that had no/old/broken sources.list in their installs.

    I found this on the ubuntu forums a while back and used it to install flash on my old vps. Haven't installed it on my current vps yet though.

    Flash

    Remove currently installed versions of Flash.

    sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-nonfree flashplugin-installer gnash gnash-common mozilla-plugin-gnash swfdec-mozilla
    sudo rm -f /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins/libflashplayer.so
    sudo rm -f /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
    sudo rm -f /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so
    sudo rm -f /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper*flash*so
    rm -f ~/.mozilla/plugins/*flash*so

    Add sevenmachines' PPA (make sure all package managers are closed first)

    sudo apt-add-repository ppa:sevenmachines/flash
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install flashplugin64-installer
