Thread: Speedtest seedbox?

Hi

I'm new to the whole seedbox thing and I'm trying to get into private trackers.



I noticed in the 10% giveaway forums that most people ask for a speedtest, if I'm using a seedbox, wouldn't I speedtest that? If so, how?

Loving the Xirvik seedbox btw :)

If you have a seedbox, you only need to post a screenshot of your webUI. If you still want to take a speedtest, you will need root access so you can install a desktop environment with flash.

If you're posting a speedtest in the 10% subforum or anywhere else in area51 it needs to be done from your home connection so please don't use a seedbox for that.

He can use a seedbox speedtest if he likes, aslong as he mentions that it is from a seedbox.

Sure he could, but nobody cares how fast his box is. A seedbox is a seedbox, just proof of that alone shows he won't be limited by bandwidth. drauka's correct though, requesting speedtests serve two purposes. To prove upload capability of course and also for user location verification which is why it should be tested using the closest server. If you weren't to consider this then you could easily invite a user from a banned country.

I never said i'd recommend it and hence the reason I said "As long as he mentions its from a seedbox" ;) (Be sure to check the persons intro for their location)

Just simply saying there is no rule against it, thats all.

Also, speaking from experience, installing ubuntu desktop, vnc server, flash is just not worth the hassle for a speedtest.

I'll agree 100% with you. It's a complete waste of time especially for someone who hasn't done it before. Plus that the speedtest is not even close to 80% accurate.
