Default Home Seedbox + Media Player Center

Hello, I'm thinking in building a home seedbox that's also a media player center. For this, I'm thinking about a low budged PC/server, maybe a small desktop with some Intel Atom processor (D525 may be useful), 500 GB HD, 2GB Ram and Ubuntu for OS (I want use a low wattage as possible)

Do you guys have toughs on this? Any tips?

I have an atom-based home seedbox. It's more than fast enough to saturate my Cox cable modem. Like you, I wanted something low wattage. It's on a fairly cheap UPS and draws so little power that the UPS has run it for over an hour in the past.

But... it would not make a good media player, and finding that combination might be tricky. There are some decent small media player machines out there, with decoding hardware, but I haven't spent any time with them. I just run rtorrent on my home router (it's running linux) and from there, rsync files over to another linux box running xbmc. I load a torrent into the seedbox and when it's done a script pushes it over to the media center.

It's a bit of work getting it all working, but worth it. I also have cat-6 run under the house and a gigabit home network. That may be a more elaborate setup than you want. XBMC is great, and with a good HTPC case and a nice remote, most folks who use the system never would guess there's a PC in the living room.
