Thread: Some basic questions about ru torrent reseed

How can i reseed using ru torrent? I know how i do it on u torrent , i open the torrent file and select the correct path and i see also on that screen which files from the torrent are ticked.
But when i try to do the same with ru torrent, it doesnt checks the files up to 100% and it starts downloading the file again!
Any ideas for what i do wronlgy?
Also is it possible on ru torrent to see the screen with the selected files for download like on u torrent?

Also another question the min ratio option what does it do exactly? The max is on what ratio to stop but the min?

When you add the torrent in the rutorrent, you have to tick the "Do not start the download automatically" or whatever the option is called (don't remember exactly). The torrent will be loaded as stopped. Then you right click on the torrent, go to details and choose the download location. After you're done, you recheck the torrent and you are ready to go.

I haven't used rutorrent for quite a while now but i think this is the process to reseed torrents.

If you want to seed only specific files from the torrent, you load the torrent as described above. Then you go to the files tab (the tabs in the middle of your screen), mark the files you don't want, right click on them, hit "do not download" and then recheck the torrent.

From what i understand, the minimum ratio is a condition applied in order to stop or continue seeding. For example, if you set min ratio at 1.5 and max ratio at 3, the torrent will not stop seeding until it reaches 1.5 ratio and it will stop when it hits 3. I might be a bit off though since i never used this plugin.

Thank you freeman, sometimes when i try to reseed a torrent especially if it has more files and i upload it through filezilla it cannot check it to 100% for reseed correctly, should i change something on the options? On the type of transfer? Asci or dyadic?

Hmm, not sure. I don't think that it has to do with the transfer type. Most likely, there are some different file names and when it tries to recheck it fails. Or you need to change the download location before you recheck the torrent because sometimes, 2 same torrents from different trackers have different folder structure.

Are you uploading the .torrent into the watch folder? I think that if you do that, it will start downloading the torrent automatically without rechecking it and it will overwrite the previous data. If you try to recheck then, it will fail. I'm not quite sure on that though.

Thank you Freeman, With the utorrent on my pc its working like that and if there is a difference it downloads the rest. But on the ru torrent on the seedbox sometimes do not recheck at all even though i have ranamed correctly files and folders.
Anyway, for my personal pc is it better choice of client the u torrent or the ru torrent?

Utorrent is a client, Rutorrent is a WebUI used for rtorrent which is a linux based client. If you are using windows, i'd say go for utorrent. I use it in my windows machine and it's working fine 100% of the time.
