You need to VNC into your server and run the speedtest from there. I had to SSH through putty and turn on tightservervnc and then vnc in and run the test virtually. Hope this helps.

I would love to know how to do this as well. I'm a complete noob when it comes to linux but I do know to use VNC somewhat. At least good enough to add/delete/make new torrents.

run a vnc client (i use toghtvnc) and enter your server IP with :5901 or :01 without any spaces after it. Once you have connected it will ask for you to enter your username and password...should be the same ase your ftp account...once inside your you should see your desktop with an applications bar in linux...open the browser and go to Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and there you go. Typically you cant copy and paste your results so you should take a screenshot to save. Hope this helps...
