I understand why you suggest that processor, but what happens when the week is up and we wanna buy more servers? who gets the one with the awesome processor lol?

Wait , im really confused now. We are only getting the server for a week? I thought we were getting 1 server for a month then making a switch. I must of mis-read some posts here and i need to go back and re-read some things. Anyway, if this is the case then im not sure what u guys want to do here, but if we are only getting it for a week then i guess we can just go with the Athlon x3 or x4. i still suggest the "Phenom" though, but both Athlons can handle what we want to do with 3 users. We need to come up with a plan here that will work for all users.

I like the idea of getting a box and hammering it for a week to test. No sense getting all the boxes up front if it turns out not meet our expectations...

Frizz - Feel free to post what I sent you in a PM about custom. You mentioned that you would volunteer your services to be the accountant for the project and I think that's great. Will you be able to set up a bank transfer payment with Digi so as to only require a 3 month contract instead of the 6 credit cards/paypal require?

@ jb123: I guess we can think of something to ensure a fair distribution of costs and features.

My ideeas:
1) Get the same specs for the new servers if they are needed(for 3 users)
2) do some math and figure out the extra amount the users with the "cool" processor should contribute
3) Get a not so cool processor if after the initial period it can accomodate 3 users. Even if we experience one crash it's not that bad while still testing the server. The main thing to consider is the server performance when 3 users remain...this initial period will be just to see if they really allow us to transfer big amounts and other theings we might be interested in


MikeD...just saw your post. My ideea was to all get one server for 3 months(minimum) and "hammer" it for a week(or as long as we consider neccesary). If they enforce their terms and conditions on us we will all lose 150E/X with X=nr of users. This way we avoid getting 2-3 servers and risk 50+ euro each. While testing the box I have no problem with using any client.

If they don't enforce them and we like the box we can go ahead and get other servers.
After the initial week the first server will only have 3 users...the rest will move to the new servers...hope this clears things up a little bit.

Yes now it does, thank u for that. I see what were gonna do now. Well then i would think either the Athlonx4 or the Phenom would be a good choice. We could even get the Athlonx3 if u want, but i dont think we should go lower then that though. I mean we could, but the best performance would be from the 3 i stated.

I tend to unrar and cross-seed a lot so I would prefer the fastest processor of the above choices. I know those tend to rely more on the hard drive than the processor but the extra horsepower can't hurt.
