Only for mac users!
Seen those nice looking desktops with calendars, clock and system info right on the wallpaper?
With geektool you can give that extra personality to your desktop.
Get GeekTool 3.0
When geektool is installed go to the system preferences to begin
You should get two windows that looks like this
Geektool window
Geeklet window
In the geektool window you can make groups and chose which "geeklet" you want to use. Like an icon klick and drag the shell icon to the desktop. And you should get a box that look like this.
You should also see that the dark geeklet window has changed
Now we can get some interesting stuff to show on the desktop but before that we need to fill that command line.
Type date +%d
And change refresh rate to 60 or more. This is important to change value to at least 1-0,5 or your cpu will work on 100% and get really warm!
To change font, font size and color click on the button to change it.
The scripts i use:
Time: date '+%H:%M:%S'
Date: date +%d
Day: date +%A
Month: date +%B
Year: date +%Y
This is a very powerful tool to customize and there are a lot of scripts and commands. Search on google to find more geeklets.
Hope some will find this useful. Enjoy!
