Default Put Machintosh in your PC.

    Hey,

This is not quite related to torrenting but it's definatelly a useful tutorial if you want to have machintosh and windows in your PC. I just did this today so I thought I'd share. Here are the steps:

    - Download a distribution of OSX86. I personally recommend iPC, i've tried it and I've heard it's the most advanced on. Go to piratebay (or any other) and download the torrent with this name: iPC_OSx86_10_5_6_Universal_PPF5_Final. Check that the file is 4,3 GB.

    - Burn it into a DVD, i suppose this needs no more explanation.

    - Boot it. Then it'll say "press a key to boot from dvd, bla bla bla" IMPORTANT: Press F8, and then boot it as -v.

    - Follow the steps, and when it asks you where install open disk utility (built in the DVD). Select the partition, erased formating in on MACOSX journa... (-> not sure but its the first one and starts with "J".). Next click on (IMPORTANT!!!) "cuztomize" before making the install. Check the drivers that applies to your computer.

    - Install and reboot. When reboot, extract the DVD. Now IMPORTANT!! before entering, boot it with "-v -f". This forces the kernels to mount correctly.

Finish registration... THAT's IT!! A perfectly osx system on your PC!

If you have any questions/error PM me. Also, you might want to check the original site page: OSx86 Project | InsanelyMac. They have pretty much everything, and a lot of other guides.

    Enjoy ;)

Never heard of iPC? strange, i used to have kalyway (never tried iAktos) and I changed cause i heard was much better, and so far, I agree. It also has all the features, and by far the largest compatibility of drivers. Here, check it out: http://pcwizcomputer.com/ipcosx86/

    ;)

I checked, the only things that have been stripped out of this DVD are Xcode Tools, Printer Drivers, and Additional Speech Voices which was required to fit the distribution onto a single layer DVD disc.
it appears that ipc is the most common distro , strange never heard of it.
Anyways another method exists called boot123 in which we can install mac to a pc with the original mac DVD and using boot123 cd.So if you have a mac DVD one needn't redownload the whole thing.

Sure, sorry it took me so long. What you have to do is set the computer to read the DVD at startup. To do that you have to get into the bios (pressing f8 or f2 depending on manufacter). Here's how to solve it. How do I change the BIOS to boot from CD? - Yahoo! Answers

let me know if u have any more problems ;)

Well, nice tutorial, but this might be a little outdated. Mostly, especially for snow leopard(10.6.0), it is currently recommended to use a way of installing directly from the dvd. This might include using boot123, as already mentioned, or Empire EFI(what i recommend). Essentially with Empire EFI, you just put the empire efi disk in at boot, wait for it to load whatever it needs, and then insert the original mac snow leopard disk(the 29 $ disk, full, not upgrade - ofcourse you dont have to pay ;-) ) . Check out empire efi here : Empire EFI | Prasys' Blog .

Though if you are really looking to learn about hackintoshes, kexts and stuff, there is another advanced method. Though it requires that you already have a mac or hackintosh before hand. Using this, you can create a custom mac disk, that is custom suited to your pc configuration. This removes any problem of hardware not being supported, or if custom kexts are not available, at least you know whats not going to work on your hackintosh. This is probably the best method, but requires a mac, a little knowledge and patience. Give it a try, it really gives you a very good insight into hackintoshes and how they work. Try the methods here : Installing Snow Leo (retail) for OSX86 | Prasys' Blog

Anyways, this is a gread idea, and a nice thread. well done.

Great, thanks for that. Just adding some more info to it. There is quite a relative easy way to upgrade from 10.5.6 to snow leopard that you can find in the official osx86 forums. Also, even though i haven't done it myself, here's a step by step if you'd rather install leopard (seems bit more complex though): How to Build a Hackintosh with Snow Leopard, Start to Finish - Hackintosh - Lifehacker. Good luck!

Hey no problem. Yeah, just keep the guide updated for anyone who wants to install mac on a pc. I know i could have done with all the info when i started. Anyways, the link you gave just does what i posted in the second link. The only difference is that the link you gave focuses on starting from buying new hardware that is compatible with snow leopard, while what i posted was a general tutorial, for people who already have a computer and want to get mac running on it. The lifehacker article is good, if you want to buy the hardware to build a custom hackintosh from start. Anyways, keep updating the tutorial!
