    Default Make drives invisible

How to hide drives in windows without using any softwares

This is my first tutorial on this site, So let me know if i have done anything wrong.
I having been using this method for a time. There are softwares that can easily hide the drives but there are people like me who would like to do it without any 3rd party software. This method would work for XP, vista and 7.

To make your drives invisible :

    1. open run box(windows key + r)
    2. Type 'diskpart'
    3. Then type 'list volume'
    4. Then select the drive which you wanna make invisible
    5. Type select 'volume 2' (you wanna select the volume number corresponding to the drive)
    6. Type 'remove letter E' (Where 'E' is the drive that you want to remove)
    Now the drive is hidden
    7.exit

    To make them visible :

    1. Follow 1-3 steps
    2. Select the volume which doest have any drive letter
    3. Type 'select volume 2' (select drive that doesn't have any letter )
    4. Type 'assign letter E' (Where E is the letter that you wanna give to the drive)
    Now the drive is visible
    5. exit

    Note :
There is a method to create a batch file, if anyone wants it just let me know
Please leave comments regarding this tutorial

EDIT : If you want an easy GUI method, just go to post no. 3 by xen35 (thanks xen35)

You don't have to do this with the console.
    Just start the Management application:
    • Windows Vista & 7: Type "compmgmt.msc" in the search bar in the start menu
    • Windows XP: type "compmgmt.msc" in the run console
    • You can also find it deep inside the system control under management etc.

There is a point Volume Management in which you can set or delete drive letters by right clicking on your volume you want to hide.

You guys like writing commands, that is good, but most people hate having to remember many commands especially if the same thing has two different commands on Windows XP and Windows Vista or 7

An easier way of doing that s by just right clicking on "My Computer" and selecting "Manage", there you can assign or remove driver letter to any partition. This works on all versions of windows (XP and above)

I knew that method and should have posted it as an alternative method.I am kinda used to writing commands. I prefer using keyboard (whenever possible) over mouse :)
