Default Speed up your pc easily!!!

Have you noticed that your pc takes way too much time to boot up or when it does programs lag or music and movies skip? This is a very easy way to remedy the problem. This works for pc's (not sure about macs). Go to start and type in "msconfig" and hit enter. Hit the bullet "selective startup." Then hit the tab startup. You will probably see a lot of boxes checked. This is all of the programs that start when you boot your pc. There is no need to have twenty programs running simultaneously when you boot up and it will seriously slow down your pc. Uncheck everything except for virus software, utorrent, and anything you regularly use such as itunes. Hit "apply" and close. It will ask to restart to apply changes. When you restart a box will appear saying that you are using selective startup. Check the box that says do not show this message in the future. You should now notice your pc running much, much smoother!!!! If you notice any problems after doing this you can always go back to the normal startup. Just type "mscong" again and hit the bullet "normal startup." Restart. Hope this helps:)

I actually haven't tried that one yet, but I've used a lot of "marketed software" to speed up your system and none have worked as good as doing it manually if you know what to do. That's why I put up this tutorial. With Win 7 & Vista you can de-select everything and the system will still start up fine. I's been a long time since I did it with XP, but like I said in the tutorial, if you run into problems you can always revert back to the original startup by going back to "normal startup." If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to pm me:)

I would advise anyone who hasn't got experience manipulating msconfig to click on "Hide All Microsoft Services" before disabling anything.

Agreed, but my tutorial only involved the startup tab and not the services tab. Services is a bit more advanced and can cause problems if the wrong thing is unchecked.

^ Yep, I wasn't arguing with you mate, only adding a few more info just in case somebody decides to "play" with the tabs

It's pretty much safe unless you disable a Microsoft service or your antivirus/firewall/hardware driver. Use Google to check what the service does. This applies to the startup tab too.

and another thing if i may add would be to use Tuneup utilities which really helps boost your performance, especially in the turbo mode. Garanteed

But a word of caution: do not clean registry in it WITHOUT backing up first.

u can download it from any private tracker u use for software
