In this guide i will show you how you can change/reset windows password on any user account. I think this works on Windows 7, vista and xp. I am not sure on older versions.
What are the benefits?
If you one day looses, or dont remember your windows password you can easely reset/change it. And you can do that on any account you want. So yes, you can break in to accounts with this, but i will show you how to do it because when people looses there windows password, some of them are so upset they dont want to use much time googleing.
The program:
In this guide im going to show you how to reset/change windows password with a boot CD named Hiren`s boot CD. I will not go in detail how you download and burn this out. But you can find free version, and payd versions of hiren`s boot CD out on the internet.
The guide:
Download and burn it out on a CD. After that, restart your computer with the CD in the cd-rom, and most computers automatic boots from CD, but maybe you need to hold down a key or somthing. Read the text on the screen when your computer starts.
When you have succsessfully booted Hirens it should look somthing like this (It depends on the version number how it looks):
You can see it is a own setting for password changer, but that didnt find my disks in WMware, so i havnt tested that out.
So to be sure, selevt Start Hiren`s BootCD (Alternative Boot Method) and hit enter.
After a while, this should show:
Select number 3. Password & Registry Tools... and hit enter. This shows then up:
On that meny, u select 3. Active Password Changer 3.0.420 (NT/2000/XP/2003/vista) *
I know it dont list Windows 7, but it worked fine on my copy of windows 7. I think the * means every windows copy.
If some menues shows up, you can wait a few secound and it sould automatic go on...
In the end, this will show:
Just select Yes, and hit enter. And when the program is totaly booted, it look like this:
Then type 1 and hit enter.
Then this shows up:
There you got a list of all the drives installed on your computer. Select the drive/partition windows is installed on and hit enter.
There the program displays all the databases windows passwords are stored in, and normaly it is just one. So hit enter. Then finaly this shows up:
There you got a list of all windows users on you computer. Even if admin or guest is disabled, it will show up there. So select the user you want to change password on and hit enter:
There you can change settings, but defualt is to delete the password on the user, so you can just press Y and at the bottom of the program it should say that the password has been cleared. Then you can press ESC, until you are at the start meny of Hiren`s boot CD.
Then type reboot, and you should be able to go straigt inn to your windows account!
Hope this helps anybody :)
