Born and raised in Canada, but my two favorite bands are SCANDAL and Stereopony. I also like Asian kung-fu Generation and Utada Hikaru. Anyone else into Japanses music?

I love Jpop. I've heard of SCANDAL, but I haven't actually listened to them. What kind of music do they make? I love AKG and Utada though, both are amazing.
Wow, I like SCANDAL and Stereopony as well. They are much like ZONE, an all-girl band that was successful in the mid of the decade.
I love jMusic, and my fav artists are Janne Da Arc, L'arc en ciel, YUI, Ikimono gakari, Ai Otsuka, ZONE, Younha, Orange Range, Flow, High and Mighty Color and I could go on :D
I like Hello!Project too, my fav artists are Morning Musume and Buono!
Glad to see more fans of jPop/jRock scene ;)
How could I forget about YUI, she has a voice like no other. Btw, Scandal makes rockin' music, hard to describe, easier if ya take a listen.
I have as of late been listening to more j-music. Currently it's a toss up on my favorite as I have a few that I can not seem to stop listening to.
Mizuki Nana, YUI, Yousei Teikoku, Shikata Akiko. All of whom have different styles and sounds but are all enjoyable regardless. Of course I listen to a wide variety of genres and this applies to J-music as well.
I love all the catchy Jpop I hear in JRPGs and other video games and frequently download them. haven't gotten in to checking out bands or anything yet though.
I'm a pretty big fan of J-music in general, Japan has a surprisingly underrated music scene because nobody seems to realize that they produce music other than anime OPs, lol. As far as Jpop/rock is concerned, you simply can't beat JAM Project, they're the best of the best. I also like Versailles, T.M.Revolution (and Abingdon Boys School), Janne Da Arc (and Acid Black Cherry), and Miyavi's work from Dokusou onward (his earlier stuff was decent, but he's been knocking shit out of the park since Dokusou).
Outside of that, I also love Envy and Heaven In Her Arms, a couple Japanese screamo bands with post rock influences, Galneryus -- a great Japanese power metal band, Animetal, which everybody should know but nobody seems to, and Kashiwa Daisuke, the world's most skilled modern composer imo. This is all among a shitload of other J-music, but I don't think anybody needs to be bored by all that lol.
Far from a JPOP aficionado, but I've loved Malice Mizer and Puffy AmiYumi for a long time now. Will definitely check out the other bands mentioned in this thread though :)
I didn't know anything about Japanese rock untill i saw this thread so i figured i should have a listen at some bands on Youtube. Right now i'm listening to StereoPony. It's just a shame that i can't understand anything from what they say but melody wise, they are incredible.
