Default To the music producers... What's your favorite music sequencing software? And why?

Which sequencing software do you relate best with and find it translating better your imagination into sound? I personally design sound and beats in Live and Reason and use Logic Pro for it's the synths, final effects, EQing and mastering. What about you?

Well, cubase was always good enough for me, however i don't need lot of effects as i arrange mostly self-recorded guitar samples. I never really thought about using an alternative, but now that you mention it, maybe it's time to try something new..

I saw this article on Ableton website about Eivind Aarset, guitarist of Nils Peter Molvaer. He creates really beautiful soundscapes and ambiences, it kind of reminds me of Radiohead.

I love the sequencing in cubase in my opinion it is the best pure sequencer for midi and audio but ableton is the best for actually writing and coming up with ideas because it makes it fun to play around and jam. Also the routing in cubase is very restrictive which sucks if you want to make complex signal chains.

I personally use Sonar because of the awesome sample libraries that come with the program (Dimension Pro and Rapture), and also because of its sheer power and versatility in handling MIDI. Boy does it have a high learning curve though.

I may try out Ableton Live for writing music, as I keep hearing that it's a good program for its simplicity (relatively speaking to other sequencers that is).

I am currently using Presonus Studio One.

I moved from Tracktion as the development stopped, tried Reaper, then Sonar, then S1.

Something about its workflow was instantly intuitive for some reason compared to Sonar. However I believe Reaper is very popular and its updated regularly, well worth trying the demo.

Logic Studio, all the way. The software instrument library that it includes is unparalleled, and I've used DP, Ableton, Sonar (since v2 through v8), and Pro Tools.

For music production, Logic Studio is the king--now mixing or mash-ups, that's another story, but for creating your own music from scratch from a MIDI perspective, Logic is incredible.
