List of QUALITY headphones (under $100)

Great thread! I just ordered a set of the Enhanced Bass Hi-Fi from monoprice to try out. I'm used to cheap $1 China special earbuds so these have to be better.

I was hoping for more of an answer to what is better about them? I would understand out-of-ear headphones for 200 but earphones are...well...not great. At least not the one's I've tried.

It sounds like you may not have heard any earphones that approach the quality of a decent headphone. But they do exist. The ER-4 earphones are better than most ~ $150 headphones. If you are curious read some of the reviews or even better listen to them in person if you have the opportunity.

I'm $15 above your budget, but for a good mix of convenience (bluetooth and portability) and sound quality, the Sony DRBT50 Stereo Bluetooth Headset gets my vote. Amazon.com: Sony DRBT50 Stereo Bluetooth Headset: Electronics

Got me some Sennheiser PX100's. These things are amazing, but considering I've never known better, don't take my opinion too seriously.

I bought my Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 for about $80 on sale, though price hovers around $100. They are amazing, soundstage is very large and sounds very balanced and clear. In my opinion one of the best headphones in the price range and you would probably have to spend well over a hundred for anything close. Great for movies, music, or gaming. They are also extremely comfortable, which was important to me, since i have em on for hours at a time.

Hmm... I think you'll find that many of the headphones in this list (especially the 668b / SR850 / Grado) easily compete with the AD700 for under $100 :)

I found the AD700 lacking in bass without an amp and EQ. Other than that, they are a great pair of headphones!
