Beautiful, simply beautiful. That's a new piece for me, 10/10.

Now, in the beggining of this video (around the 11th minute) you can see one of the best renditions of Mendelssohn's famous violin concerto..... Lol, just kidding. But it is nice to see people like that just goofing off. The concert starts around the 15th minute. Enjoy!

LOL @ the superb rendition of Mendelssohn's violin concerto (which is a great piece btw). Really nice to see them having so much fun together. I really liked their performance, it was powerful. It was nice to see all these names together, giving it their best. I loved the passion of Jacqueline on her cello --> at some points it seems as if she nearly fell off her chair haha :D

Here's Brahms again.. the great double concerto

10/10 for this incredible and famous work, obviously. When I hear the bolero of Ravel, I always have to think of the fantastic choreography that Maurice Béjart created to it. The dance subtly captures the playful twists and the erotic undertones that run through Ravel's music. You can watch the choreography here --> Maurice Béjart - Boléro (2002) - YouTube

Well, if you want to switch to the twentieth century for a while, here's an enchanting piece by John Rutter (1945 - ): Suite Antique. The work consists of six small parts.
The recording on YT was split into two parts, so I'll include the link to the second part after the video of the first part. Make sure to listen to the work in its entirety because each part is different but equally beautiful imo.

Du Pre really was great. Trevor, if you thought that Dvorak's concerto was good with Rostropovich, you should hear it with Du Pre. It's another thing entiringly. Simply mindblowing.

Well, I'll admit that newer stuff is not really my specialty, but I liked the one you posted. 7/10 for me. But I have to get back a little... Here's the famous Kreutzer Sonata by Beethoven, with one of my favourites violinists, Ivry Gitlis:

9/10 Great playing by both musicians. I'm curious to hear Gitlis play the violin concerto of Beethoven.. should be great.
Here's a vid of him playing when he was 82! --> Gitlis plays Rondo capriccioso - YouTube
BTW Jacqueline has always been one of my favorite cellists, so yeah, she can't do anything wrong imo :)

One of my favorite composers of the twentieth century is Arvo Pärt (1935 - ). Here's the magical piece Fratres

That's great! I need to learn more about Arvo Pärt. Thank you very much! 9/10. About Gitlis, he really is amazing. I don't know, I've seen him being referred as the Glenn Gould of the violin. That certainly seems appropriate. He plays in a quite unconventional way, but I think it is great.

Anyway, here's the Tchaikovsky Piano Trio, op. 50, with the gigantic Sviatoslav Richter:

8/10 It's a shame the quality of the vid is really bad, it makes it all sound tinny and sharp. Nonetheless, the sheer quality of the musicians still shines through every note, and their play is still able to narrow the yawning gap of history and leave you in awe of their magical powers! The piece itself is beautiful as well.
I have to agree with Gitlis being the Glenn Gould of the violin.. they both have a very personal and unconventional style. Either you like it or you don't. One thing is clear, though: it's very refreshing to hear them play. Still, I must say I really don't like how Gitlis plays the famous chaconne of Bach, nor do I love the extremely slow tempi of Gould.

As I'm a Bach freak, I'm going to post one of his pieces again. Here's one of my favorite recordings: the keyboard concertos played by the awesome Murray Perahia and the fabulous Academy of St.Martin in the Fields. It's a two-CD set and a real treat. Really, the rendering is no less than absolutely impeccable! So if you can, you should really get these cds and listen to them both in their entirety. I could listen to them the whole day :) Anyway, here's the first movement of the first concerto :)

Okay so 10/10 from me for the above :D

Here's an extra bonus - a wonderful performance of the Bach concerto for 4 pianos (Bach's arrangement of the Vivaldi concerto for 4 violins) by Argerich, Kissin, Levine, Pletnev, and some other big names in the string section (Kremer, Chang, Bashmet, Maisky,..).

Both pieces are amazing, 10/10 for me. I'll look for the cd... Couldn't find it on waffles, I'll check my local music store....

    Anyway, here's a piece I love:
