Thread: How diverse is your taste??

Just thought it would be fun to see what kind of music genre range you excellent people have. Basically list all the genres you listen to. If I haven't mentioned an important genre, vote for other and write in the comments section what the genre is.

Hey! Just bopped in to tell you that my favorite music genres are metal/heavy metal, electronic/dubstep/drum & bass, indie/alternative rock, and also some hip-hop (but not my really one of my favorite genres).

I am so politically incorrect! :D

The only thing I don't listen to is top 40, I'm so alt

I love it how top 40 as no votes yet haha. Anyone who voted for 'other' want to share what genre I missed? Or artist if that's the case, as in they are too hard to give a label.

Is Top 40 really a genre? I like specific artists from a range of genres (there's even a couple of Country & Western artists that I like, even though as a whole I hate that style of music). Sometimes those artists make the charts, sometimes they don't. I don't follow the Top 40, but if I turned my nose up at every artist that ever made the charts I'd be losing out on a lot of decent music.

Where does Blues fit? Surely, you don't put it among rock and metal, do you? Or with Jazz? I guess "Other" would be the other. It should have had its own category, being one of the most influential genres of the 20th century.

I would agree with you, with only 10 categories though I knew there would be genres I can't fit in. If you wish I could either put it in with one of the other genres?
If I had it my way the poll would have 20 categories haha.

I know it's not specifically a genre and yet I felt it would be important to put it in the poll considering the fact that I know many people who mostly listen to what is at the top of the charts and not much else, they actively seek to listen to only the most popular and newest of music. So I guess it can be a pseudo-genre for the sake of the poll?

I used to mainly listen to metal but nowadays it's mostly rap/hip hop that i listen to although I find myself enjoying a diverse range of music like top 40, 80's 70's etc

Same as you, but mostly i listen to chillout/downtempo. I love oldies as well.


I used to listen to black/death metal but I guess I ran out of energy for that as I grew older.
