It's not about listening to new music, you hear new inspirations all the time (as you have mentioned: video games, radio, TV ...). The problem is to get the name of the artist and the correct title. I love listening to music, but I'm just not willing to spend hours searching for a new song I heard somewhere. The solution with last.fm sounds amazing. I'll try that.

there are programs which can help you find what song are you listening to like trackID if you have a sony ericsson mobile phone or if you have a track on your pc that you don't know its name you can use winamp to find out

honestly, i use youtube a ton to sample music. I don't like to download a ton of albums that turn out to be a waste of space and time. youtube also sends you to similar songs and artists so you can kind of network out from something you like to something new.

i know its an obvious answer and "its so pathetic compared to all the elite music trackers" ha, but it works great for me

Music Roamer - Discover New Music This is a decent site to find similar artists also. 4chan's /mu/ board is pretty helpful if you're into a certain type of music. Lots of Heavy Metal posts there and lots of hipster stuff.

Thanks for this tip. I didn't know this one, but their website design sucks. Who builds their entire website in flash nowadays?
