i personally prefer plasmas over lcd/led for both 2d and 3d televisions... i have a 42" panasonic 1080p (f20 i think) plasma while my parents have a 55" samsung led c6400... both tv's look great but for what i like i prefer the plasma. the plasma seems to have brighter colors, darker blacks, and a faster refresh rate without making it look like fake 120hz


we both considered buying 3d tv's in the same categories and just last month looked at probably over 100 sets. i found panasonic plasmas to be overall the best tv for the money

samsung is better for style and still good but not amazing performance with their led tv's

Plasma:
*Pros:
-Best black levels; very good home theater image quality in best examples; wide viewing angle.
*Cons:
-Slight potential for burn-in; reflective screen; lower native resolution than similarly sized LCDs and
LEDs for entry-level models.

Best Plasma Brand (IMO): Pioneer, Panasonic

LED:
*Pros:
-Plasma-like blacks on top of most of LCD's advantages; high energy efficiency; ultraslim design.
*Cons:
-The priciest among all HDTVs; limited screen sizes from 40-inch and above; relatively narrower.

Best LED Brand: Samsung, Sony

personally i have a plasma and recently Ive been looking at the LED, they look a lot nicer than the plasma. In the store anyway

Why do people ignore DLP in these discussions? You can buy a DLP 60-73" TV at a fraction of the cost of the plasma/LED and all DLPs I've seen in the last 4 years already support 3D! If you're not hanging it on a wall, save your money and buy a huge DLP instead.
