Disaster Movie must be the very worst movie i've ever seen..
I think me and some folks here agreed: Twilight is some kind of worst thing have ever produced.
The Hurt Locker - but for personal reasons.
EOD Techs are made out to be adrenaline seeking cowboys in that movie. I personally made it through EOD school and got my crab (I still have holes in my chest from where they pinned it) and have since been discharged, I have a ton of friends still downrange responding to incidents and putting the suit on when need be. As a former military member I understand most movies about wars/armed forces will get a few things wrong, especially uniforms, but the amount of complete and utter bullshit in this movie is a disgrace to everyone who puts their life on the line. In no way was this a documentary, and unfortunately it gets put out as "Based around true events", which is only true in the sense that we do use robots, weapons, and disable both unexploded ordnance and improvised devices. Best example is one of the most popular scenes, where the main character lifts multiple 155 rounds up from being buried by the wires leading in to the fuzes. The fact is that's the equivalent of picking up a car with a bit of floss, while wearing 80 pounds worth of gear around your body in the heat of the desert. But it's not just impossible feats, the fact of the matter is there are countless safeties you must abide by on any incident, and all of these are blatantly ignored time and time again for the sake of cheap thrills. If I had a dollar for every time I had some person tell me they joined EOD because of the hurt locker I wouldn't be working right now, and the first thing we told those people were they were too stupid to stand a chance in Eglin, and would probably end up DORing during demo.
I could probably spend about an hour talking about how this movie boils my blood, but trust me when I say, this is one of the most unrealistic war movies ever created.
joe vs. the volcano.....and battlefield earth.....awesome book....the worst movie i have seen yet.
@MrRothschild. all action movies are somewhat fake and unrealistic. if they'd film the movie the way it's supposed to be in real life, it wouldn't be as thrilling to some people. shockwaves, firey explosions and the very basic, a gunshot is loud as f*** - all made entertaining and suitable to a regular guy down the block who hasn't a clue what's it actually like.
i've been in the military. i've seen how granades explode (thrown too), i've shot REAL weapons, i've heard heavy artillery fire near me while the target was a mile away, still, the bang was a real bang and the ground shook like it's supposed to.
even though i know how the things go, i still enjoy those "cheap" movies. we, being through it, know what to look for, that's why you are disappointed.
i didnt have a problem with district 9, however i found the other guys, extremely boring and couldnt watch it the 9 times that i tried to..
